Isolated togetherness

We used to be so close,

Oh so very close,

I used to lie in bed with you every night and you'd smile.

Told each other everything,

now we only talk once in a while,

""It's broke and I don't want to play.""

Why are you pushing me away?

Why are you changing,

Your moods ranging,

""Don't you feel like severing?""

I can't help remembering,

Why do you want to marry him?

Is this just on a whim?

""But you never cared for me.""

I'm so sorry,

I can't let you free.

So I watch as you breathlessly yell that one word.

""Evelyn.""

Have you realized you're not alone?

That I'm all you ever known?

The scissors slice through my flesh like butter,

Your tears make your face seem cluttered.

""Because you never listen.""

I'm sorry I'm always insisting.

I just want you.

Only you.

I love this song and I hope you enjoyed my poem, but if you didn't I'm sorry. Danke! My gratitude is given to you for reading this.
