Do you love writing and sharing your stories on Wattpad? Do you have a wild imagination and tales to tell? Do you wish you could be a published author-and have your work appear in you local Target store for your friends and family to see?
Well the new contest gives you a chance to do all of that! We're hosting an open contest for Wattpad users who want to be published in the upcoming Once Upon Now anthology that will be carried in Target stores (and other places) this October!
To enter, all you have to do is write an engaging story about modern life or modern love that in some way alludes to or uses elements of a fairy tale or a myth. Make sure it's between 4,000 and 9,000 words, follow this topic, and then tag it - that's it! (Oh, also, no trademarked characters--and keep it clean, people!)
To be considered eligible, entries must be posted in English (US residents only, sorry) by 7:59 GMT on June 12 and be eligible under the general contest rules listed here:
Once the submissions period is done, the Wattpad readers will vote up their Top 25 stories, and the editors at Gallery Books will pick 10 from that list to include in the anthology.
So go nuts-tell us your fantastical stories about living in this modern world-the sky's the limit! (Unless your story has a Pegasus, then it might go just a bit beyond.)
ALL THE DETAILS:
Submission Requirements: In order to be eligible, entrants must be a registered Wattpad user and the Story must meet the following requirements (collectively, the "Submission Requirements"):
1. The Story shall be in English;
2. The Story shall BE BETWEEN 4,000 AND 9,000 WORDS
3. The Story shall have as its theme "Once Upon Now", be non-sexually-explicit, be set in modern times, and in some way allude to a fairy tale or myth;
4. The Story shall be entirely created by the entrant, and the rights to publish and distribute must be held by that entrant;
5. The Story shall be tagged on the Wattpad platform by the entrant with the tag #OnceUponNow
6. The Story shall be submitted as directed on the Contest Website. Entrants who submitted the Top 25 Stories shall also be asked to email their Story as directed by the Sponsor.
Prize: Ten (10) grand prizes will be selected from among the top twenty-five (25). Those ten winners will have their story featured in the Once Upon Now anthology and you will receive $500 + a proportional share of royalties from the anthology that will be published.
