 The Road Taken

Red leaves of Fall, a carpet rich, lie on my pebbled walk,

I bend to pick them one by one between the mossy rock.

As I saunter on my way, the leaves become a bore;

I realize there’s more to life than keeping leafy score.

To find a less than travelled path, is what I need to do,

And blaze a trail, I will not fail, to see my world brand new.

Where two roads meet, I must decide, which of them is best—

Like Frost before, I have the choice of going east or west.

I stare at one, and then the other, I cannot see ahead,

No signpost to direct my way—by intuition led.

With heart steadfast, an oath I've sworn, to myself be true,

I'll stay the course, find inner source—no trials will I eschew.

In days to come, I will look back, see how far I did roam,

Along the trail, a holy grail to find and bring back home.
