It wasn't the chaos. It was the silence. The silence in her head. It was the silence in her mind that drowned her. She had grown empty long before she ended the war. She had nothing left to live for.

No one cared.

She lied to herself. We all lied to ourselves. She told herself someone cared. She lied to herself until the emptiness in her head killed her. We lied and said she was okay. No one ever came. We lied all the way up to the day she died.

In my head I see her beneath the water. Drowning. The water filling up her lungs, rushing through her nose, choking her, the darkness impairing her vision. I watch the nightmare unravel as she takes her life.

No one cared.

No one ever cared.

She was dead long before she jumped.

She was dead all along.
