Rain rain go away, come again another day
This little line from a song would float through the air, hanging on the breeze all day long on a rainy day.
I remember this rhyme acting as a form of hope when I was a child.
It was as if singing this phrase would some how make the rain halt.
Uttered as we stared longingly out the window
Wishing to be outside
Hoping to roll around in the grass and feel the warmth of the concrete against our chubby little bare feet.
Dreaming about the trees we could be climbing.
The yard we could be exploring.
The games we could be creating.
The picnic plans being shattered.
Bummed about the hopelessness of the accumulated chalk art that adorns the pavement no doubt being washed away.
The rain was terrible.
It was a nuisance that stopped us from enjoying our time.
So we we resented it.
We would ask the rain to go away
We would pray, and hope, and sing.
Anything to pass the time as we waited for the sun to emerge from behind the grey, gloomy clouds.
We were unable to appreciate the calming sound of the droplets falling against the windows.
Gracefully floating to the ground.
Making its ways through the trees, leaves, and the grass.
We were unable to realize what the rain truly does for us.
We didn't know the true necessity of rain
Everything has its own purpose in life
And rain?
Well rain gives us life
Rain provides us with purity
And no matter how inconvenient it may seem,
It is the most essential part of life on earth.
It acts as an earthly cleansing.
Washing away all the bad from the world.
Leaving it fresh and pure.
Clean and renewed.
And each tiny drop that falls from the sky is a gift.
A tiny little gift that deserves nothing but pure appreciation.
I wish I could sit here and thank every single drop of water that's graced us with its presence
To thank them all for never being properly appreciated yet still coming back
Still providing us with the gift of life
You know there are many people in this world that resemble the rain
Disregarded and tossed aside
Yet always there.
Always there to lend a helping hand.
Always there to provide guidance, help, love, advice....
Yet we never give them the thanks that they deserve
We never even acknowledge the sacrifices they make for us
I have a task for you:
Find that water droplet
Find the bit of rain in your life and latch onto them with all your might
Shower them with appreciation and love
Never let them feel less than what they are
As these people, they're the rain of humanity
They are what cleans our souls and minds
Just as the rain cleans the earth of all filth,
They provide us with a sense of purity
But these people and rain lack one common factor
People will eventually get tired of constantly giving to receive absolutely nothing in return
People will give up eventually
So appreciate them
Cherish them
Appreciate the rain
Appreciate your tiny little bit of rain
For the rain, well the rain is what allows the sunlight to shine on life rather than a barren land of emptiness...
