As I arrived at the bus stop, I put my ear buds in and turned my music up as loud as it would go. I could still hear the freshmen conversations about god knows what. I took one ear bud out, and realized that the other had shorted out.

"Shit," I mumbled under my breath.

I put the crappy ear buds back in angrily and looked down the block to see if the bus was on its way yet.

Ugh. Late. Again. It didn't help that the bus shop decided we needed another stop on our route. Extra late. I should've caught a ride with Mom.

The broken down, rusty bus finally rattled its way down the road at about seven oh-five. As I got on, I missed a step and almost fell on my face. I heard a few of the upperclassmen laugh.

Hilarious, I thought.

As I found a good seat, I put my hood up and my head down. The bus stopped again, and I felt a tap on my shoulder, I looked up to see a tall boy towering over me. He motioned for me to take my ear buds out.

"I can hear you," I said, scowling, as I moved my bag, reluctantly.

He sat down, and I lowered my head again, but I could still feel him staring at me as I tried to make my music louder. I looked over and took my hood off.

"Can I help you?" I asked, annoyed.

"You have beautiful hair. Why hide it under the hood?" he says quietly.

I looked at him sideways. I detect some kind of accent, but I can't tell where he's from.Who the fuck does this guy think he is, Romeo?

"Get lost," I said out loud. "I'm not interested in hooking up."

"I'm sorry," he said, confused. "Did I say something wrong?"

"Look, dude," I said, tired of this guy already. "I don't know what tricks you've got up your sleeve, but I don't have time for 'em. So I think it would be best if you moved on and found some other girl who would fall for a guy because he used some flattering words."

"I-- " he started,

and part of me wanted to feel bad for not giving the boy a chance, but then I remembered what happened last time I did that. No more chances.

"Look, Romeo, I don't know you!" I exclaim,ed and put my ear buds back in. He was quiet for the rest of the ride, but when we get off of the bus, he slips a note in my bag.

I pulled it out and read it.

The name's not Romeo. It's Silas.
