CHAPTER ONE: NOT YOUR ORDINARY DAY

"UUGGHHHHH!" I groan, flopping headfirst into the carpet. "I hate laundry!"

"Too bad!" my Dad says, throwing socks at me.

I roll over, avoiding the sock bombs. "Attack of the socks!" I mutter into the carpet.

"Not funny" my dad says sternly. " Now finish your laundry."

I sigh,  rolling back over, and sit up, giving up the battle.

Snatching a shirt from the basket, I fold it clumsily.

He doesn't say anything. So I just continue folding my clothes in the awkward silence.

After a few moments, though, a low buzzing sound fills my ears.

I frown. " Do you hear that?"

My Dad looks at me like I have three heads. " What?"

I facepalm. " Nevermind.... I forgot. I'm talking to an old man who's practically deaf."

"I'm only 54" My Dad jokes

I roll my eyes. "Really? You are? Congratulations!" I snap, voice dripping with sarcasm. " I'm 13! Do I get an award?"

Just then, the buzzing that I had pushed to the back of my mind grew louder, and it was mixed with static. It was also coming from the speakers.

I glance at Dad. " wtf?"  I ask, puzzled,  using the common abbreviation for what-the....well, I guess you know the rest.

He shrugs in response. "I have no idea"

Suddenly, an image flickers to life on the 45 inch TV screen.

My mouth hangs slightly agape. If a fly flew in and had a party, well....I'd probably flip out, but I still wouldn't close my mouth.

 Seriously! I'm not joking.

It's not everyday you see a gray-brown tabby cat adorned with shiny jewelry, wings, and bright, intelligent eyes randomly pop up on your TV screen.

Nope, this is not a ordinary day

* I will be continuing this mini-series. Please tell me what you think of my writing, constructive criticism is appreciated! :) Trust me, the title will make sense later, anyways!, I know this is a really, REALLY short chapter, but there will be several more, and they'll be long. This story will take awhile to develop, though, so you might have to wait a week or so for me to get deeper into the plotline.

Thanks for reading Chapter One
