A Choice

Oh broken heart,

Sitting alone in your room,

Balancing the gun and a choice.

You ask yourself,

“Am I alone?

“Is there a reason to live?

“What is the point?

“How can I continue?

“No one cares.

“Where is there hope in a world so cold?

“I feel no love.

“I feel no joy.

“Wouldn’t it be better just to stop?

“To no longer exist?

“At least the pain would cease, so why not?”

Oh but how lost are you!

There is One who’s heart breaks with yours.

One who cried with you every night as you fell asleep.

One who says, “I am with you!”

“I am here!”

“Come to me!”

“Fall into my arms!

“Let me bare you up into my loving embrace!

“I don’t care who you are or what you have done, I love you!”

Oh, broken child,

Hear His voice.

Listen to the voice of mercy.

Surrender to His embrace,

Let Him raise you up and fill you with life!

Let Him dry your tears and give you joy!

And please,

Please,

Don’t pull the trigger.
