I was sitting at my desk at work and I began to think.

I looked out at the children playing and thought of how carefree they must be.

How they can't even begin to fathom the turmoil that's going on in the nation that they pledge

Allegiance to day in and day out, out of oblivious routine.

How this land of the free initiated with chains and slave ships

How the leaders of this time will rather see them die to stay rich

How you kill 3000 people and blame it on terrorist

Now you want us to commemorate and say to us never forget

They run around in circles and play childish games

And I'm not talking about the kids I'm talking about politics

They want your vote and promise you a brighter future

But the people in Michigan still suffering from water pollution

Sometimes my heart get heavy, sometime I get sad

I don't want to get the call that my brothers a hashtag

Sometimes this democracy don't really seem so democratic

They hook my people to these drugs and then they call them attics

People found dead in jail and their explanations don't explain

If you talk too much then you get labeled mentally insane

I'm tired of hearing these conclusions that never really conclude

More black on brown violence every time you see the news.

This land of the free with the highest prison populations

Let's lock them behind bars let's see what they have to say then

Sworn to protect and serve is there invented call of duty

But when you see the police all you think is "Please don't shoot me"

I'm scared to turn on the T.V. another man down

My people getting shot with they hands up and this ain't a battle ground?

We at war with each other, man we fighting the wrong team

I just want to go back to the good times, or so it seemed...
