John Winston Lennon, Was an extraordinary man.

Grew up as a teddyboy in the streets of Liverpool,

And started a life changing band.

He recruited some of his school mates,

figured it would be fun,

and earn them a few dates.

They played around any chance they could get,

until that summer day when two legends met.

Ivan Vaughn brought his mate to the fète,

figuring after he would let the band members and him meet.

While waiting to play at St. Peter's church hall,

three words changed musical history; Hi I'm Paul.

Paul had a friend, who he said could play,

so he introduced him to the band one day.

Raunchy was George's debut song,

he blew away everyone seated on the top deck of the bus

they were riding on.

From the cellar full of music,

to the Kaiserkeller club ,

to the Casbah and the local pub.

These four lads played their hearts out in toons,

they played with the sun, they played with the moon.

The work day was long,

and the payday was short.

They played music for dances,

they played music for jigs,

but they had to keep going,

if they wanted to make it big.

A manager came along one day,

joining in the crowd to watch the band play.

His name was Epstein,

Brian to be exact.

And he knew what he wanted;

The Beatles to become a professional act.

He Got rid of Pete Best,

but kept the rest.

They acquired the drummer from Rory Storms,

Thus finishing the Beatles form.

John, George, Ringo, and Paul,

played Winter, summer, spring, and fall.

But once February of 1964 came round,

the Beatles were the biggest group in town.

They traveled to America, across the sea,

and began earning money after playing for cheap,

damn near free.

There was a man, named; Mr. Ed Sullivan,

And it was on his show that the Beatles made their debut.

Girls went wild, for The Beatles moptop hair,

down to each pointed boot.

Beatlemania had started in the blink of an eye,

the Beatles made girls scream, pass out, and even cry!

Parents thought the Beatles were jokes, father's shouted;

"Go back to England, you moptopped Blokes!

From then on the Beatles only made it bigger,

the Ed Sullivan show had pulled some kind of trigger.

They sold billions of records, everyday,

and girls stayed in their bedrooms,

to listen to them play.

Please Please Me was absolutely superb.

With The Beatles, best album ever heard.

A Hard Day's Night was one of their best,

Beatles For Sale aced the test.

Help! was absolute perfection,

And Rubber Soul was my favorite, loaded with affection.

Revolver was a hit, right from the start.

And Sgt. Pepper's gets right to your heart.

Magical Mystery Tour was golden as they say,

The White Album, completely blew my mind away.

Yellow Submarine was alot of fun,

Abbey Road makes you remember, here comes the sun.

Let It Be was the final, the Beatles last testament,

But the songs that were on it were the best for it.

As they neared the end,

experimenting with new things,

The Beatles earned their titles as musical Kings.

Today they still affect how music is made,

no matter how cheesy, no matter how lame.

Just remember it all leads down to the Beatles somehow,

and John Lennon with his skiffle group,

in that celler full of sound.

_______________________________________

This poem is so special to me, because it is about one of my biggest influences in life; The Beatles. They are such wonderful remodels. Just by knowing the story told partly by this poem, it gives me more hope in anything I ever wanted to do. It makes you think "Hey, if it took the Beatles that long and they started out that small, why can't I?" And this isn't even Close to the entire Beatles story, yet this alone can give you a new boost in confidence. Just knowing that the Beatles started out as a small skiffle group consisting of a few friends amazes me.
