Sharon's Smile

"What makes you the happiest?"
My friend enquired one day
While we were studying.
After a few minutes of pondering
I answered:
"Seeing Sharon smile."
He looked at me and smirked,
Shaking his head and muttering
"Lovebirds."

The memory makes me smile,
All the things he does not
Yet comprehend.
Like how the simplest things
Make her eyes sparkle
and smile.
Even when she is angry,
A smile is not far away,
It has just faltered.

That beautiful uplift
Is the strongest commodity
Keeping me going.
Even when her cannot hold me
Nor I her,
I can still see her on my screen.
And feel her warmth for me
Inside my chest;
Keeping me whole and safe.

And when I return home,
That smile greets me;
So pure and bright.
Yes, Sharon's smile
Makes me the happiest,
For I can show the same
Effortless expression
That means everything
To us.
