It was dark, I couldn't see. I was running through the woods, the Slenderman song going through my head.

Slenderman, Slenderman,

All the children try to run,

Slenderman, Slenderman,

To him it's part of the fun

I kept running, frightened of what was behind me. The song still going through my head.

Slenderman, Slenderman,

Dressed in darkest suit and tie

Slenderman, Slenderman,

You most certainly will DIE,

I heard footsteps behind me, getting faster and faster. Faster than me.

Slenderman, Slenderman,

his branching arms are for collecting

Slenderman, Slenderman,

His face is empty of expressing

I suddenly felt a serpentine thing grab my waist from behind.

Slenderman, Slenderman,

He won't let you say goodbye

Slenderman, Slenderman,

You most certainly will DIE,

On the word die I saw his expressionless face cover my vision.

I awoke in a cold sweat. I was panting. What I just saw was the weirdest thing I have ever seen. I went to the bathroom and washed my face. I looked in the mirror and told myself everything about me just to make sure.

"My name is Sonic the Hedgehog. I am the fastest thing alive. What I just saw was just a dream. It wasn't real." I sighed.

I went to go back to bed. As I laid down and put the covers over me, I saw a shadow over my blanket. I jerked my head towards the window, where I saw a tall slender figure standing there, long branch-like things coming from its back. I yelped and sprang out of the bed, before I realized what it was. It was just a harmless tree, blowing in the gentle breeze. I sighed in relief.

I climbed back into bed, relieved that the Slenderman wasn't real. I Closed my eyes and fell asleep.

The next morning, I woke up to find Tails downstairs cooking breakfast.

"Hey, Tails buddy." I said cheerfully.

"Well good morning Sonic, did you remember?" Tails replied.

    "Remember what?" I asked.

"It's Amy's birthday! Did you remember her present?" He countered.

"Uhhhhh........." was all I could say.

"You didn't did you?" Tails said.

    "No........." I managed to say.

"Well you better think of something before the party starts." Tails replied. "She's going to be really upset if, especially you, don't give her something."

"Um, I'll think of something." I stuttered.

Then Tails got a sly smile on his face. "You know, Sonic, you could be her present. You know how she's always going after you."

"Hell no. I ain't gonna be her present." I snapped.

"Okay, okay. You won't be her present." Tails laughed.

"Well, what am I going to get her?" I said, subconsciously.

"Haven't you been paying attention to her? I got her a cat. She'd been wanting that one in the pet shop window for so long." Tails told me.

I shuddered. "Alright. I've made up my mind. I guess...... I'll be her present."

"Yay!" Tails cheered. "Oh, this is going to be great!"

"But Tails, before the party, I have to tell you about a dream that I had last night." I told him about me running through the woods, trying to escape the Slenderman. His eyes widened.

"What does it mean?" I asked. "Of course, I don't believe in the Slenderman, but still."

"Oh, you better believe." Tails looked me right in the eye. "The Slenderman is real. My mother was taken by him. Never saw her again." His voice cracked.

    "Tails I....... I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said anything." I apologized.

"No, no. It's alright." Tails wiped a tear from his eye. "You should have told me."

    "Why?" I asked, confused.

"Because it means the Slenderman is after you, Sonic." Tails explained. "He's coming to kill you."
