Ice Cream Girl

I saw her again today,

the cute girl in the brown boots.

She works at this ice cream truck I go to everyday.

She interest me.

The way she pulls her auburn hair back, leaving some hanging down as she bus tables.

The way she knots her bright red apron instead of making a bow like the other employees.

The way she moves her body gracefully as if she's listening to her favorite song, while working.

It makes me blush every time she glances at me, but every time she does catch me staring, she winks and it makes me blush even harder.

I really want to get to know her.

She's a new employee that Ben just hired.

She started three days ago.

Today I decided that I'm going to talk to her.

My heart feels as if its going to burst as I get closer to the ordering window.

She slides the window open, "Cotton Candy with gummy worms and M&Ms, right?" she asks with slight confidence in her voice.

I freeze (pun intended),"Yes... how'd you know?"

"I pay attention", I gave her my name and as she turned to complete my order, I sat down at a near picnic table.

A few minutes passed as I sat reading while I waited.

By the time my order was ready, I had already submersed myself into the book. I blocked out the sound of the wind blowing through the trees, the singing of the birds, even the laughter and screams of children near by. 

I was so invested in the story of the wizard elf and the dragon that I completely missed my name being called.

"Sara?" I looked up startled, "Your ice-cream"

I told her thank you and asked her name, while blushing like an idiot of course.

"Judith, but everybody calls me Judy"

I smiled while biting my tongue, hoping my face is still its normal complexion.

She sat down and we talked until she had to leave. We talked about our jobs, my book, and our favorite ice cream.

"Call me" was what she whispered in my eat before she left me confused. Then as I was finishing my ice cream, I noticed a phone number on my spoon.

I swear, I have never been so happy in my life.
