All The Way To Red Hook, Baby

It was already dark outside when we reach red hook, we were panting. Heavily tired from running and pushing Lukas' motorbike all the way here. We've parked it and everything, now we're staring at the door.

The door.

Once we open it our lives could change forever, for the better or for the worse. I looked over at Lukas standing next to me to see him kind of just staring into the door in deep thought, probably contemplating

"Its okay. I could go first if you want to." I offered and he looked at me. Damn I still find those blue eyes mesmerizing every single time.

"Now why would I wanna do that? C'mon" and to that he held my hand as we walked towards the door and went inside. This was it. I closed my eyes and open them once we were inside. To my surprise nobody was even in the hallways. That made me calmed out a bit.

I'm really on edge trying to figure out what's gonna happen once we let everybody know we were official. I guess we came here pretty late. Everybody else is having the time of their lives in the school's gym where according to Lukas, is where the party is being held. And I guess that's where we're headed as he dragged me along the hallway and the lockers. I could already hear the faint music.

It was really empty here, walking in this hallway after this night would surely change. I'm gonna savor this moment, him holding my hand without hearing someone snicker or some snide remarks being thrown in our way which I'm pretty sure is gonna come after this night. Right now I'm just gonna enjoy this as if nothing is wrong and this is completely normal, which it is. All too soon we finally stopped towards the doubled doors of the gym. I took a deep breath.

"You ready?" Lukas asked me. But the real question was, is he the one ready?

"Yes. yeah I'm ready" I stated.

"Okay baby let's do this." He said smiling .

I smiled back. He let go of my hand and started to push pass the doors. I can't believe he's doing this and be all chill about it and I'm just over here anxious and all.

"Where gonna have so much fun" Lukas excitedly stated. I swear he has this smile that could light up my whole world. He held my hand and drag me along the sea of people stopping at one of those high top tables.

I could see Rose talking to her friends, drink in hand and one of her friends saw me too. She looked to me and whispered something to Rose. Which made me feel all anxious again inside. Rose looked at me and Lukas, who was playing with our intertwined hands.

"Hey uhm I'm just gonna get you something to drink okay. I'm kind of thirsty too." I looked back and nodded at Lukas who let go of my hand again as he left off. I looked back over at Rose and her friends, she was still looking at me, she smiled and wave once she realized I was looking at her. I gave her an awkward smile back and looked down at the table like it was suddenly the most interesting thing in the world.

"Hey there cutie are you having fun tonight?" I jumped at the sound of Lukas' voice. I looked at him as he placed a paper cup in the table while holding another one. He kind of looked concerned.

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing I just.." I played with the papercup on the table.

"I don't know." I said before drinking the liquid filled cup.

"Well, do you want to dance?" He asked suddenly all being ecstatic and smiley.

"Uhh I-"

"It'll be fun c'mon"

and to that he grabbed my hand and practically drag me on to the place where people were all dancing at the front almost near to where the DJ was playing songs. I'm just playing along watching Lukas all excited and happy and not on edge. This is kind of nice.

"Hold on a sec" he said as he went off to go across to where all of the music equipments were all set up. He smiled at me and wink and I can't help but smile back. This boy I swear.

I saw him whispered something to the guy who was in charge of the music, he then hand out his phone while the guy just smiles and nods along and suddenly the music changes from upbeat to a slow one.

A familiar tune started playing, a song from the playlist that I made for us. He's such a nerd. He came back smiling as he placed both of his hands in my waist, the smile still not fading from his face, like he's so proud of what he just did. It made me smile.

"You're such a dork" I told Lukas.

"You love it." He said which earned him a giggle from me.

"Let's dance."

"I can't."

"Me too but that wouldn't stop me." He said sticking his tongue out at me.

His hands grabbed mine and rest them on top of his shoulders. He started swaying us slowly from side to side. At this point I started looking around us, some people were starting to look at us funny. It made me feel something in my gut.

"Some people are looking at us weird" I whispered to Lukas, loud enough for him to hear.

"So? Let them." He said simply.

And now I was the one to look at him, like he said something crazy. I did not expect him saying that, he used to get paranoid being so close to me in public.

"What? My dad knows, Rose already knows. A lot has happened. There's no more killers chasing us down, I just don't wanna keep secrets anymore."

"Okay." I nodded to that. I'm just happy. He was right. This past few weeks have been one hell of a crazy ride and now I feel like I'm in a better place after everything that's happened. I actually feel like everything's gonna be okay for once.

"Okay." He copied me. I rolled my eyes playfully.

A moment later,

"Philip are you ready?" He asked me. To which I responded with curiosity etched all over my face. Ready for what?

"Uhm rea-" before I could even asked Lukas kissed me on the forehead first before leaning in and pecked me on the lips. We stayed like that for 10 seconds I think, I wasn't counting. He kissed me! It made me feel all giddy-happy-anxious. I cant even explain what I'm feeling but I know damn sure that it made my stomach hurt.

"What was that?" I asked him smiling like there's no tomorrow when he pulled away.

"I told you I was gonna kiss you" he said.

People were looking at us more than ever before, some we earned smiles from, I smiled back while a few look disgusted but that's okay you can't really please everybody. I don't really care that much right now I'm just so happy I've got this amazing guy in front of me. I just know everything's gonna be okay.

"Oh and Philip. "

"Hmm?"

"I love you too."
