"Did you love her?" Asked the bartender at the piano bar with an awkward expression as he continued preparing drinks waiting for a response.

I stare at his hands creating a drink that is joined by an oxidation of fire, and I wonder did I love her with the force of that fire or did I burn her down as she masked her inability to tame me through the years.

I remember walking through carnival night with my juvenile mentality feeling full of myself thinking I could do it all and no one would stop me but as she twirled around to the sound of the music she captured the savage animal in me causing a controversy in me I never thought possible. As I inched closer to her as she made love to the music possessing her I watched as she sprained her ankle falling into my arms as I became the forbidden apple in her life, of course through the pain she didn't realize it then, but as I took off my shirt to wrap her foot I became the aromatic oil of sassafras that flavored her soul leaving no room in her mind to imagine life without me.

"Yes I loved her, that's why I'm asking if I could bury her underneath your piano bar."
