"Were you bitten?"

The only answer she receives are bitter sobs and violent shaking. His entire body is trembling as his glazed eyes stare at the weapon in terror. Not even the woman beside him, despite having her arms firmly wrapped around the boy's shoulders in a protective manner, can calm his anxiety.

"Leave him alone! He's fine!" the brunette screams as she shields her brother.

Reika's gritting her teeth, but keeps pointing the gun right at the boy who's slumped down on the ground crying. Every cell inside of her wishes this would not be necessary. She doesn't enjoy executing one of the very few she has left, especially when it's someone this important to a person she cherishes.

"I didn't ask you, Namie," the armored one says and her voice is steady and cold despite her breaking down on the inside. It's something people always point out about her, the cruelty she's capable of, even if it's no secret that it's making her suffer the most.

But even so, sometimes things need to be done. Whether you like it or not. Especially in times like these.

"Answer me, Seiji. Were you bitten, yes or no?" Reika asks again, firmly and he rapidly shakes his head in return. "Let's see for ourselves. Roll up that sleeve, then." She motions for someone out of the group to step up and do what Namie's brother obviously is too hesitant to do.

Shizuo Heiwajima, his expression having regret written all over it, walks up to the siblings and separates the two with ease, despite the woman throwing her fists and kicking her feet, struggling as much as possible. Her mouth spits out cries and begging in between curses and insults towards the two people who apparently do everything in their might to kill off her dear brother.

One of those people had the luxury of getting to enjoy blind trust, until she started pointing a gun at the most important person in her life.

The man grabs at Seiji's arm and rolls up his sleeve which results in him revealing a circular wound from which some blood still oozes, teeth marks prominent.

Reika stops for a second before she cocks the gun.

"Don't! W-We can fix this, I can... I can try to heal him! We could–" Namie continues to list down all sorts of plans while her brother starts screaming. Surprisingly, he manages to free himself from Shizuo's grip, since the blonde was probably too caught up in the moment, too shocked himself that he loosened it unintentionally.

BANG!

A bump as the lifeless body hits the ground. A few seconds of complete silence that feel endless and heavy. A subtle ringing from the aftermath of the loud sound lingering in all their beings, sitting in their bones and sending shivers down their spines. A scream that pierces through her ears and causes her head to ache horribly. A few rapid, quick steps as Namie runs up to the corpse of her brother, half rising the limp body to have what is left of his head, which definitely is not much, rest on her chest.

Reika lowers her arm, pain written all over her face and she turns around to the rest of the small group. She finds the headless rider turned away from the whole scenario, apparently not wanting to be a witness of something this horrible. Her boyfriend, the underground doctor, is holding her close as he looks at the executor and nods as if saying 'It was the right thing to do.' but she is doubtful of that.

Her gaze wanders over to Izaya, whose expression is like a blank canvas and irritating regarding he usually had to comment on anything and everything. He unfolds the arms he had previously crossed in front of his chest, casually, as if everything was still in complete order, as if there was nothing to fret about.
