you hated being first place.

every time there would be a test, everyone would choose to sit around you and cheat.

every time results were given, no one would tell you their mark.

why?

because without thought you would get full marks again.

even some teachers don't care about your grades because they know you would get full marks.

you were silently reading a book as you sat on your table in the school's cafeteria.

because of your good grades, you could miss a period twice a week. this week you decided to miss out on maths.

as you were reading the historical scientific formulas, someone tapped your shoulder. you looked behind and saw your school principal.

"hello,"

you said as you bowed.

"(y/n), meet edawn. edawn, (y/n)."

he says as edawn lends his arm out to shake your hand.

you shake his hand as the principal continues,

"(y/n), while you're on your free period, show edawn around the school."

"yes, mr. phil."

you replied and he walked away.

you quickly packed your book into your small backpack and approached edawn.

"do you know which subjects you have today?"

you ask and he replies,

"yeah, maths and english."

you looked at your watch and calculated how many minutes of your life is going to be wasted. during your calculations, you were interrupted by the newbie.

"are we going or not?"

"yes, please follow me."

as you direct him to the lockers.

nearly done with the school tour, you asked him about his overall marks.

"do you remember the highest mark you got in an exam?"

"yeah, of course, i do."

he replies confidently.

"what did you get?"

you asked feeling slightly excited.

"i got seven."

"seven?"

you ask surprised.

"yep, got seven."

"are you serious right now?"

you ask still questioning where his confidence came from.

"yep. i heard you got the highest mark in the nation."

"yeah,"

you answer slightly embarrassed and proud.

"lucky, the highest i've been was 2nd last place."

"oh, and how many times was that?"

"twice."

"anyways, that's our school. do you have any questions?"

you asked him and he seems to be smiling, smiling a lot.

"hello?"

you ask and he just stares at you kind of like a creep.

you were about to leave him alone when he grabs your arm.

"i do have a question."

"oh yes, you can ask."

"what's your number?"
