It's mid-afternoon and Mason, Teddy, and Mark ride on their skateboards towards the traintracks near their house. A train is heard in the distance even though no horn is sounded.
Mason: C'mon let's see if we can beat the train!
The three jump off their skateboards and run towards the tracks. As the train nears into view, Teddy and Mark stop and yell for Mason to stop. Mark tries to grab Mason but it's too late.
Teddy & Mark: NO!!!!!
Mark: (More faint) No...
Mark and Teddy fell to their knees in the middle of the road and sobbed. It was only when people drove up to them that they moved.
Person 1: (Yelling) What're you doing in the mid... Is that...
They sped off to where they were going and caught my sister, her boyfriend, and me as we were walking...
Person 1: A boy just got hit by a train! It looks a lot like that boy Joseph! You should get down there to see if your friend's okay.
Sister: Go across the street and get Mom and tell her what she just told us. Now!
Elise: (Worried) You want me... to cross the main... street?
Sister: You'll be fine. Just watch for cars.
