We grabbed her hand, her head, filling her thoughts of us- the stars- and the sky. She saw the galaxies and wished to be among them, among us.

We are the stars that light your night path, the ones that guide your way home and bring a glimmering hope to darkness.

In wait, we lay across the world, past the golden sun and inky seas. A million years and a sunset away, we cry tears of fire and hope and burning restlessness, painting the black void between us with tendrils of red and passion and sadness.

We watched her run across the green and white, sail across the never-ending blue, stretching for the stars- for us.

Yet she never got any closer, for it was only in her mind.

We watched as she grew and lengthened, taller than the telescope she peers through to look at those of us who are too far for her to dream of.

We stayed still as the earth spun, revealing the children of the girl and her tears and remembrance of her lost dreams.

And we watched as she looked towards the heavens and saw us beckoning to her.
