Hi guys 🙋☺, We're going to start off with a theory about the opening scene of Descendants 2...
First off we already know that the vks's looks have changed drastically from the first movie most notably Mal and Carlos, but I'm going to focus more on Mal this theory.

Definitely a big change for our favourite formerly evil half fairy, but in the behind-the-scenes teaser Disney released however, you can see Dove Cameron (Mal) giving her opinion about Descendants 2 ("this one is definitely going to blow the first one out of the water...") we see her with a different coloured and curlier wig, which resembles the first film's look:

In the "Get Real" shorts that have appeared on Disney Channel's instagram, which have so far showed China McClain (Uma), Dove and Cameron Boyce (Carlos) getting their hair and make-up done in the morning before filming, Cameron revealed a huge clue towards the beginning of the movie.
Cameron revealed that he wears a wig in the movie, (as opposed to the first where his hair was entirely his own), but also that "for they opening scene they kind of wanted a Descendants 1 look, so they gelled the wig back..."
