Shadows

Prologue

-Dark and messy room. Everything is disarranged. It stinks; something's dead, something's rotten. Maybe, thieves have their feast inside the owner's house.

A 10-year old girl, grade 5 student hurried home from school. She's excited to come home early for the special food that always prepared by the beloved chef in the house;  her mother.

"knock knock knock"

*the door's open*

she's confused why is the door open but there's no sign of anybody.

"mom might have a surprise for me, since it's my special day, my birthday"

She ran and look for her parents; in the receiving area, backyard, and even in the kitchen, but there's still no signs or shadows of her beloved parents.

"something's odd, something's wrong. Where are they?"

she started to cry with a heavy sweat.

but then, she remembered that she didn't check the room of her parents yet. She wiped her tears and wore a smile, hoping her parents are in their room waiting for her with a surprise.

She entered the room. It's dark, only the lightning gives the gleam in the absence of light inside the room. She tried to turn on the light but the switch is broken.

With a covered nose, she continued to enter. When she found a body in the bed she hurried and checked that it might be her mother.

"mom-"

Yes, it's her mother... It's her mother's open eyed, rotten dead body. The knife that used by the murderer was still intact in her mother's forehead. But the blood was already dried up and the maggots started to crawl all over her mother's dead body.

As a child, she started to get crazy on what she just witnessed until she noticed the water flowing inside her parents bathroom. Not just a water, but a combination of blood and water.

When she open the door. Her father was taking a bath...

...Bathing his own blood.

She startled and fell on her feet. The maggots crawling down from the bath tub.

She's so terrified that she can't even stand on her feet. Her body weakens, can't think, can't shout, just the tears continuously flowing from her eyes.

She just got home but her parents seems like murdered a months ago.

The crying stopped...
Teardrops suspended...
She's now holding a sharp knife...
Her uniform turned into bloody dress...

Her dress was rotten and eaten by the maggots...

"WA HA HA HA HA HA"

"HA HA HA HA HA HA"

A huge voice with an evil laugh came from the tiny mouth of the child.

She continued her terrifying laugh while stabbing her father over and over until his face can't be recognize.

A tremendous thunder and lightning land on the disturbing night.

That wake Alice up in her horrifying dream; 16-year old girl, a first year college student, a freshmen rather in Umbrella University.

She's in a high fever, she lived alone, so even it's hard for her to stand, she forced herself to close the windows.

"What a spine chilling dream"

She whispered to herself and came back to sleep.
