I could hear Emmett's footsteps as he paced my bedroom as I continued to stuff my bag. Every now and then, he would stop, say something and then start again; this was one of the times where he had stopped, "you have to tell me what's wrong, so, so that I can help...you gotta let me help you!"

I scoffed, before stopping myself and breathing, "you can't help Emmett."

He grasped my hand, life it was a life jacket, "you gotta let me help, Vega, I-we can stop this."

"No, you can't!" I said yelling at him, startling the both of us, "you cannot stop this, you cannot help this, Emmett, you can only run." I told him shaking my head slowly, my body shaking. "He has been hunting me my entire life and I am tired of running!

"Hunting you, what does that mean?" he asked, grasping my arms gently.

"What do you think I mean?" I asked snatching myself away from him, continuing to pack.

He signed before sitting on my bed, "I'm sorry, I just feel I have a right to know if my girlfriend is in danger."

I scoffed, "I'm not your girlfriend," I said in a low voice.

I could hear him stand up behind me, "what does that mean?"

I turned and looked at him angrily, "you have been treating me like shit all day, Em," I said throwing my clothes into a suitcase

"You said you don't love me."

"I told you I was joking, I told you I was joking! No one ever listens to me if, you ALL did we wouldn't be here!" I yelled at him and anyone else who would answer, I felt like my world was tipping over all over again but this time I knew that whatever happened could not be undone.

"Baby, babe," he said wrapping his arms around me, "calm down, please, I need you to calm down.

"Please, don't touch me right now." I said escaping his hug, "I have to pack."

"No!" He said pulling the clothed that I had just picked up out of my arms. "you're not leaving."

"You do not own me, nor do you have the right to tell me what to do," I told him, angry at the obsessiveness that he was starting to show. "I am leaving and this," I said motioning between us, "is a done deal, my family and I need to disappear."

"I, you don't mean that Vega, we just got our chance, please don't let this end." He said, before sitting on my bed and cradling his head. "I can protect you; my family can protect you."

I couldn't help but laugh at him, "How, huh? If my family can't protect what makes you think that yours can? Because, once this man finds something he wants, he doesn't stop 'till he gets it in his cold, dead, hands! And, I'm not risking me, or my families lives by staying here, not with you."

"How is this such an easy choice for you?" he asked me, I could hear the pain in his voice.

"How is it not, Emmett?" I asked, stopping what I was doing, "would you choose me over your family?" I could tell that he wasn't expecting my question because he is body went still for a second. "Exactly."

"You are my family."

I scoffed, "don't do this Emmett."

"Do what?" he asked, his voice accusatory but so was mine.

"Don't try to guilt me into staying," I told him zipping up one suitcase and opening another, "my family's safety is more important than all of this."

"Let's go to the Volturi," he yelled finally, his voice full of emotion, "your father has the Volturi!"

"If the Volturi knew we existed we would ALL be executed! Don't you understand that? Me and my brother aren't supposed to exist, that's what makes the hunt so much better for James. He has a chance at forbidden fruit, that's the only reason why we haven't been reported."

As he opened his mouth to respond, my had family arrived, "Vega," my father said, his voice booming brought the halls as he appeared at my bedroom door, "we need to go, now!"

"Okay," I told him, looked between the two of us before nodding and take my suitcases for me and leaving.

"So, you're really going to leave me, huh?" Emmett asked, his voice cracking, he still wasn't giving up; if this was any other time, I would crumble but this isn't that time.

"My dad has to keep us safe." I told him, finally taking a good, deep look at him, but once I did, I was filled with regret, because the sadness in his eyes almost made me cave, "this isn't forever." I cupped his face in my hands.

"I can keep you safe."

"Please, don't make this harder than it is." I pleaded, dropping my hands, turning my back toward him.

"Do you love me?" He 'd asked, moving with his speed to face me.

"Emmett-"

"Do you love me?" He asked again, this time, he's placed his hand over my arms and looked e deep in my eyes.

I sighed, "yes, with all of my heart."

"Then stay with me," he said, the hope in his voice more apparent than ever.

My eyebrows came together, I knew that there was no way that my parents would let me stay here and risk my life but I knew they would let him come with me if he wanted to, "come with us," I told him, "it's the only way for us to be together." He dropped my arms, stepping back, "what, what's wrong Em?"

"I can't," he said, his voice low.

"Wh-what?" I asked confused, the fantasy that I'd started to have in my head crumbling in front of me.

He shrugged, "I can't leave my family," he said nonchalantly.

Was drawing a blank, trying to come up with a reasonable response, "I'm sorry, what?"

"You're my mate, it's my job to keep you safe and I feel like you would be safer with me." He said to me like he didn't just crush my soul, but maybe this was karma for me telling him I was staying with my family.

I could feel it before the day had even started, I could always feel it; I thought it was just going to be a bad day but turns out it's the day my heart would be broken by the one who was supposed to repair it... ironic huh? "Is, is this it?" I asked, the dam finally breaking, my eyes flooding. "This is the end?"

He looked at me like he'd never seen me anywhere before like I was just another person. "I guess so," he said, before pushing past me and leaving me in the rubble of an earthquake. I gasped once reality set in, I knew this was hard but the fact that he'd given us so easily had done something to me; it was a feeling that I'd never felt before and one that I didn't want to ever feel again.

"Vega?" I heard my mom ask, her arms warping around me as a sea of emotions engulfed me.

"He's gone," I told her, my cracking the more I said it, "he's gone."
