Rain.
That's all that I could see through the windshield.
The last twenty minutes went through my head. The 'sincerity' in her eyes. The way she calmly let me down.
The way she took my heart away from me...
And crushed it before my eyes.
I didn't recall a trace of sorrow on her face; only how she smiled and told me it wasn't the same. How she told me I was just a friend to her.
"A friend," I muttered under my breath. "That's all I am to anyone."
You were more than just a friend to me.
I should have known. I should have let go before I got to deep. It always happens
The car swerved on the slick road.
"Never again."
Another swerve.
"Never will I fall in love again."
A skip in the tires sent the vehicle rolling off the road.
And I didn't even flinch.
