I find the beginning of books boring to write so I'm just gonna go straight into the middle of this one..... So yeah, enjoy!

My hearts beats wildly as I step into the glass tube. The opening slides shut behind me, leaving a heavy silence, penetrated only by the sounds my harsh breathing. The peacekeeper who sits in the corner of the room smirks. I pull myself together and glare at him. He sniggers. That is all I see as I am elevated up. Into the arena.

It takes a moment for my eyes to adjust. When the do, I gasp. All the tributes stand on pyramids the size of elephants. Ridges in the sides serve as steps. The golden cornucopia sits, gleaming, in the centre, on a bed of sand. The sky is a dazzling blue, with the sun already deep-frying my shoulders.
