A blood-curdling scream came from the girl’s locker room. A girl decked in red for the Halloween dance ran out the door crying.

"She's dead! My best friend's been murdered!" She sobbed, while rocking back and forth. A hushed silence fell on the student body. The Principal walked into the locker room and came out with a grim expression.

"Call the police. Tell them there has been a murder," he said solemnly.

"What's happening? Who's dead?" a boy with blonde highlights and a Mario costume called.

"Victoria. Dead. Killed," Alex, the finder of the body, choked out.

A surprised murmur spread through the crowd. Soon, the murmuring became louder and louder until the student's din covered the polices’ sirens.

"Make a hole," said a technician, pushing a boy in shock, Cj, out of the way. "Who knows what happened? Who found the body?"

"I..I found her," Alex said, choking back a sob.

"Did you move her? Touch her?" The paramedic asked.

"No... she was just... like... THAT," Alex cried.

As the paramedics entered the locker room, they were greeted with a gruesome sight; Victoria had been stabbed 14 times. Someone had written "Ha" on the walls.

"She's dead," the lead paramedic announced, after failing to find a pulse.

A small crowd of curious students had assembled in the locker room. They all whispered quietly. A few others were comforting Alex, who was in the fetal position, rocking back and forth. Her eyes were blood shot and her eye makeup she had taken hours to prepare was running down her face.

The police made quick work of removing Victoria's body onto a gurney. The covered her with a sheet and rolled out of the gym. When their car left the parking lot, the principal, Mr. Carson, stool in front of the grim crowd.

"Students, a tragic thing has happened here. One of our students has been... murdered," he choked back a sob on the last word. "If anyone knows who did it, or even thinks they know, please tell me."

There was a hushed silence. Everyone was scared and it showed. No one wanted to talk. No one wanted to leave. After what seemed an eternity, a particularly annoying boy stepped forward.

"How do we know this isn't some Halloween prank?" He called. Alex looked at him with a glare that could slice steel and stood up. She walked over to him and punched him in the face.

"A JOKE?! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! SHE'S DEAD! FOR REAL!" She screamed at him. The boy cowered and didn't say another word.

A tall blonde boy stepped forward.

"I know who killed her," he said firmly.

"Who!?" Alex cried. The boy paused.

 "Me," he said.
