Memories of a campfire

Corn, and sparks

Running barefoot through the dirt

Night falls - slowly

Logs crackling loudly

Who dares come closest?

Blowing on a burn.

Sleeping in a pile,

Boy girl boy, who cares?

We're all the same.

Corn, and sparks

Sweet summer melancholy

Framed in my mind.

Written as an entry for the July 2017 Poetry Contest by WP_Poetry
The first of my contest entries that does not submit to a specific form, which resulted in me posting it in a new book in which I'll be gathering my free verse. I guess lazy summer days expressed themselves in a lack of form.
