Welcome to the story of Jaejoon and Aine.
In the beginning, it was my intention to use this story idea for a full-length novel. After I was asked to write for the One Million Project anthology that contributed towards a great cause, I decided to turn this idea into a short story instead.
Then, There Was Aine is set in Jeju Island, which is located south of the Korean peninsula. It's well-known for its dramatic volcanic landscapes and beautiful beaches. The picture used for the book cover was one I took when I traveled there during the spring of 2015.
Now on to the characters!

If you guys follow Kpop, then you must remember Hero Jaejoong. He was so big back in the early 2000s because he had the face of a fallen angel. Did I name my character after him? Not really! The name was a coincidence, but I thought he fit the character of Jaejoon.

Liza Soberano is an actress from the Philippines who's making a name for herself not just because of her gorgeous face, but also for her stellar acting. I thought of her when I was describing Aine.
