“Yo, Shadow, wanna hang after school today?” Jack asks as he takes a seat next to me in the cafeteria.

“Can’t dude, sorry, mom want’s me home for some reason,” I shrug as I put my phone back in my pocket.

“That sucks, maybe next time,” he shrugs as he leans back in his chair, arms crossed.

“Yea, I really wanted to try out that new game you were telling me about this morning,” I sigh as I stand up. Why do moms always ruin everything?

“Hey, where you goin’?” Jack asks as he jumps up, the chair clattering behind him turning the whole cafeteria silent.

“Home. Like I said, my mom wants me.”

             “That’s illegal,” Jack smiles.

“Bye Jack.” I laugh as I push past the backdoors.

What could Mother possibly want now? She almost never pulls me out of school, she’s always nagging about how education is important… especially if I’m going to be living for the next 200 years.
