It’s been two days I was in London and already my room was a mess and I got lost at least 5 times. It was my first day of scho0ol on a sunny day of October which were rare. London was a lot different from my hometown, Quebec city in Canada. First, there was the language. I was good in English class but I always had that strong French accent. It was my first language, but Daddy and I agreed on speaking only English for at least two weeks to get used to it. That morning, I started looking back into my phone to photos from my life in Quebec. I saw pictures of my ‘friends’. The ones that left me when I needed them most. After those were the pictures of my mother. I broke down into tears immediatly. I haven’t seen those since the funerals, two months ago. I putted my phone back on the table and wiped my tears. It was a commun gesture of mine ever since I learnt she had cancer. I brushed my light brown hair and held it back in a ponytail like I always do. I puted my glasses which framed my blue eyes. I putted on my manly clothes and headded down stairs. Daddy was sitting in the dining room, the news paper in one hand and a coffee in the other. We said our hellos but no more. I didn’t eat that morning, but just stopped in the small mocha coffee at the corner of the street. I was really too stressed to ever eat much more. When I arrived to my new school I headded to the director’s office for my appointement. I knocked on the door. He opened the door wide and gratted me with a huge smile. “Come on in! You must be Emily! I’m your new directior, Paul McLogan. Please take a seat.” He said with an Irish accent. I sat on the chair he just offered me.
“Hi.” I said quickly.
“So Emily, tell me about your old school.” He said trying to make me feel more comfortable.
“Well… It was a French school… and umm, I used to play soccer… I mean, football.” I answered still shy.
“Great. We have French class and a football team. You enter it with those papers.” Mr. McLogan handed me the two pages long document. I took and we continued talking a bit about the school. Then, he gave me my schedule and led me to my first class, Sciences.
In the class, the faces changed of expressions. There were anxious faces, indifferent ones, confused and others whom were welcoming.
“Hi folks! Please make a warm welcome to our newest student, Emily LaLiberty.” Mr. McLogan said to the class.
“Umm, LaLiberté sir…” I corrected him.
“Oh, I’m sorry! LaLiberté. So Emily, tell the class more about you.” He smiled at me. I hated him just for doing that. I hated talking in public like that.
“Well, I’m from Quebec, Canada. My first language’s French, that’s why I have such an annoying accent…” Everyone laughed eventhought I didn’t to make a joke.
The director walked out of the class and the teacher welcomed me. I sat on the only empty desk. It was next to some tall brown haired whom was, I have to admit, really attractive. He smiled at me.
“Hi Em, can I call you Em?” He said with a smile.
“Yep, no problem” I answered blushing a bit.
“So, why did you move from Quebec to here?” He said. He seemed really interested actually.
“Umm, my dad got a job around.” I answered back quickly.
“Cool… Oh! What jerk I am! I’m Liam, Liam Payne. Nice to meet you.” He said.
“It’s pleasure Liam” I said with a smile as I shook the hand he handed me. Liam and I talked the whole time and he explained me quickly the school, the people whom were in it. He pointed me two boys whom were in the back of the class. One was blonde and the other had perfect hair.
“The blonde one is Niall, an Irish carefree guy who moved last year. The other one is Zayn my other best mate.” Liam explained. Then he pointed a curly boy.
“He is Harry Styles. He is pobably the most popular guy in school. I don’t know him much, but he’s quite nice from what I’ve seen and heard” He said.
“And there is Elizabeth. She’s my best friend ever since I can remember. I call her Beth!” He was pointing a brown haired girl three desks farther.
“Oh and finally! There is Louis. He is probably the funniest guy I know.” He said. I took a look at the boy, but all I could see were his brown hair through heads.
The bell rang and Liam and I walked to Niall, Beth and Zayn. He presented me and we talked a bit before we headed to our next class. Niall and me were in the same class in English so he led her to the classroom. They sat next eachother. Niall was a really nice guy from what I saw. Next was P.E. I got dressed into her gym clothes in which I looked even more like a boy. Neither Liam, Niall nor Zayn were in the same class for this hour. I joined the group in which she found boys. It was quite different from back in Quebec were they were separated.
“Okay, guys today were starting to play football. You’ll make the teams. Harry and Louis, you’re captains. Go ahead.” The teacher said.
Not surprisingly, I was chosen last by Louis. It was this moment that I just saw how attractive he really was. I got up to get a jersey and our eyes met. His blue eyes overwhelmed me. A whizzle got me back to reality. I took place on the field. The game started and it took a while before I got the ball. I skipped a couple of players which was surprinsing to the others apparently. I did a couple of good shots and a goal. At the end of the class, Louis walked to me.
“Hey, Emily right?” He said with a smile.
“Yes and you’re Louis if I remember.” I answered back.
“Well, Emily, you are really good at football I gotta say!” He said taking his arm around me awkwardly.
“Thanks, you’re not bad as well.” I said.
“Thank you. Oh! By the way, you should enter the team. The team isn’t formed yet so you can still take a chance to make it.” He said winking as he entered the boys’ room. So, Louis thought I was talented enough to joined that team. It was a idea to try.
**
Why did I even thought I could possibly make the team? Why did I simply showed up here? Worst idea in my entire life. I thought to my self as I walked on the field where I could only boys. It was a unisexe team. Great.
