Sometimes late at night

I just can't bear to sleep

Instead, I'm burning up with words

That I will never speak.

And I'm too tired to reason out

The fault you find in me

So I collect my thoughts and build a wall

That you will never see.


I've been down this road before

I'm not surprised anymore.


The way you make me feel

Utterly invisible.

But I'm the fool for caring

When it only makes me miserable.

So let's go our separate ways

You're just another stranger

I met today...


It's not like I choose to be

The one standing here alone.

I admit I've grown used to it

Even when I sit at home.

I wish I could stop caring

And numb this feeling for a while.

But the pain's never more cruel

Then when I turn and see you smile.


I've shed these tears before

I'm not surprised anymore.
