dizzy

Buzz. Buzz. Maya groaned as she reach over to her alarm clock and turned it off. Another day of failure she thought. She got out of bed and started to walk to her kitchen as she started to get dizzy. Once she got to the kitchen she sat down and grabbed her head. Something was off and she knew it. She went to get up and fell over. She passed out. Her mom Katy ran into the kitchen because she though she heard a noise. She panicked when she saw Maya on the ground unconscious and called 911.

Riley, Farkle, and Lucas were outside about to stop at Maya's apartment building when an ambulance pulled up. They immediately ran to the ambulance just making it to see Maya get put inside.

"Katy! What happened to Maya?" Riley asked while hyperventilating.
"I found her in the kitchen unconscious. I'm following her to the hospital." Her mom said unevenly as she climbed into the ambulance.

Riley started crying and Lucas caught her as she started to fall to the ground. Farkle had tears in his eyes as he saw Riley panicking and with everything going on he ran to get his car. In 5 minutes flat he pulled up and Riley and Lucas got in.

Once they got to the hospital Lucas asked where her room was and they went to see her. But when they got to her room they only saw Katy.

"Where's Maya?" Asked Riley nervously.
"She's getting a CT on her brain right now. Come sit with me and wait." Katy patted the seat next to her and they sat down.

An hour later Maya was brought into the room and Lucas's eyes beamed at her. Lucas had always cared for her and he always would. Even if he chose Riley. Honestly he wasn't sure what he felt for Riley anymore and Riley knew that. They'd tried talking about it but neither of them wanted to break up with the other.

"Hey guys. I'm okay." Maya said in a raspy voice.
"We were so worried Peaches!"
   "Riley had a panic attack and me and Lucas were so nervous we couldn't speak." Farkle said as he grabbed her hand to reassure her.

They all hugged and the doctor called Katy out into the hall. Maya looked scared as she saw her mom cry. Her eyes met with Lucas's and she felt safe. She hated what he did to her. Not that he chose Riley but that he made her inside churn and gave her butterflies. He made her feel better without even trying. Little did she know that she did the same to him.

"Maya honey. I have some news."

The rest of the gang left after they said goodbye and Katy sat next to Maya's hospital bed.

"You have a rare genetic disorder that they didn't find until now. It's called Neurological Memory Disorder. It'll make you dizzy and cause you to faint or forget easily rememberable things." She said as she teared up.
"Well it sounds like I'll be okay then?"
"Maya one day it's gonna get so bad you'll pass out and never wake up."

They both started crying. Maya was living off of borrowed time and she knew it. Her mom told her to go through life normally and that she had a long time left. But Maya couldn't shake the feeling of being so close to death. From this point on Maya would never see life the same.

Maya was released that afternoon and immediately went home with her mother. They watched movies and then got ready for bed. Maya laid in bed and couldn't fall asleep. She was too worried she'd never wake up but eventually her melatonin levels kicked in and she fell asleep.
