He faced the noose,
It'd all come loose,
Years and years of pain.

He denied every charge,
He begged with the sarge,
Bad luck kept him sane.

It was hardly fair.
I should have been there.
I watched him from the crowd.

He caught my eye,
He howled a cry,
The box fell to the side.

And so he was felled,
His conviction held,
The neck did not.
