"I gotta be the one you touch. Baby, I gotta be the one you love. I gotta be the one you feel and I gotta be the one to fill your life with sunshine." – Jagged Edge

Every man can make a mistake. Actually, that should be written in the Bible; that men are expected to fuck up and then you are to forgive them. Why? Well, because sometimes we can't help it. Sometimes we just need a temporary distraction. I knew I did.

I allow my leg to hang off the railing in the hotel bed I was forced to stay in now that I didn't have a home to come to. I grunted and yawned as I tried to stretch out the exhaustion I've had for at least two days now.

I sit up and my eyes travel to the slight beam of light that was piercing through the small opening of my curtains. Another day another chance. I didn't know what today was going to bring but I knew I had to at least get back to work. Hopping up, I grab my cell and check it for any messages and ignored a few as I looked for any from Natalie.

I've been back five days now and I've heard nothing from her since I popped up at our house, well... her house now. I couldn't stand staying at Mama's house another day listening to another one of her rants on how sorry of a man I had become. Her disappointment in me was evident, but damn, did I have to listen to that every day? After all, I was her son and Natalie was an in-law, she was supposed to have my back.

Besides, I couldn't think about that shit or how dysfunctional my life had become right now. I had a meeting at noon at Robertson and Bates. It was time for me to get my life back.

I walk into the main lobby at Robertson and Bates and immediately notice my brother walking out and gave him a head nod. He was probably meeting with one of the company's legal counsels about one of his architectural projects.

"Hey, bro!"

"Hey, you ready to come back to work?"

I slip my hands into my pants pockets and nod my head yes. "That among other things. It's time to get back into the swing of things. How have things been here since I've been gone?"

"Cool I guess. I haven't heard much of anything. Jim is still head of your team and they may be announcing new partners next month but shit, I don't know. I'm headed back up to the twelfth floor, wanna link up after I'm off?"

"Yeah, I'm going to give Natalie a call and if nothing happens from that then we can link up."

Channing laughed. "I'll be seeing you later then."

I shook my head at him as we walked off in opposite directions. I walked up to the receptionist's desk to check in and waited for the boss to call my name. I figured this was the easy part. That was until I noticed her walk into the room.

"Hey, babe. I did hear you were back in town."

"Joyclyn what are you doing here?"

"I work here now. As a matter of fact, you'll be seeing me a lot more often."

Natalie

"You see I know just what you want, and I know just what you need; bring your body to me. I don't see nothing wrong with a little bump and grind."- Robert Kelly

Biting my bottom lip, I gaze at what had to be the sexiest man I had ever gotten to know. He was beyond sweet. He was beyond being a gentleman. He was slowly but surely becoming The Man. The Guy. The One. "You, sexy motherfucker, ugh." I laughed out.
