I woke up tied to a chair. As I took in my surroundings I noticed the people in the shadows watching me.
"Come out you cowards! Show yourself!" I yelled and heard girlish giggles as a young woman stepped in front of me.
"Do you remember me? My names Jasmine Hues, and you picked me up from cheer leading practice when I was 8." She said and I saw the glint of hatred in her eyes before another girl slightly younger than her stepped up.
"How 'bout me? My names Catherine Till and you picked me up from the theatre when my brother was running late." She too stepped aside and another girl walked in front of me saying her name and how I picked her up. Then the next girl and the next, each younger than the last, until a little girl stepped in front of me.
"I'm sure you remember me! We only met last night, my names Hailey Hues and you picked me up on my walk home from school. You hurt me, hurt us all, but now we are going to hurt you." She stepped out of the way as two of the older girls pushed a large, covered mirror in front of me, and another girl pushed a rope in my hand and pulled a lever that made the rope have a sudden weight on it.
"You hold on to the rope for a hour and your home free, but be careful cause more and more weight will be added onto it every five minutes. And you don't want to let the weight go all the way down." The oldest said as the little girl pulled the cover from the mirror revealing a seesaw. On one end was a spike positioned directly below me, and on the other side was a weight that, if let drop, would push the spike up.
"You can't do this to me! This is murder!" I yelled.
"What was it you always told us? No one would believe you did anything? Well no one will believe that we did this either." The oldest said. I screamed at them as they all left the room one by one, each smiling from ear to ear. Finally as the oldest and youngest left the room they turned around and faced me.
"By the way, if you decide to just end it and let go of the rope the spike will only move up half an inch a minute." Jasmine said as little Hailey waved goodbye to me with a grin not becoming of a little girl. As the door closed encasing me in darkness, I screamed.
~
"Man that guy was practically torn in half from that thing!" My best friend said as we watched the news.
"Yeah I heard he was an alleged child rapist. He got off due to some technical bull shit."
"Shit I forgot about that thing with you! Do you want me to change the.."
"No its fine."
"Well at least this creep got what he disserved right Jasmine?"
I smiled and watched as the reporter on TV told about the 'horrible murder of an upstanding citizen' and how 'his family would be in great pain' but he always told us he didn't have any family.
"Yeah one less person to have to worry about being on the streets."
