I set the table with a coaster and plate and bring over the food and crockery. Percy runs down and takes his seat at the table, and I grin at his childish excitement.
'Someone ready for the pancakes?'
He nods excitedly and I bring over the plate. I put the strawberries on as well as whipped cream and maple syrup. I take the seat across him and wait for him to dig in. I watch expectantly as he stares at them emotionlessly with a frown.
'Are you just going to stare at them? Eat them before they get cold!'
He fixes me with a look and I would describe it as a poker face but he has a frown simultaneously.
'I refuse to eat the abomination.'
I glare at him and sigh.
'And why exactly is that?'
'You have made a fatal error. They are not blue, and deserve to be thrown in the
trash.'I let out a laugh but his expression remains the same. I start to realize he's serious, and sigh.
'Just eat the fucking pancakes.'
'No.'
I go to his side of the table and grab the knife and fork. I cut up the pancake and pierce one piece with a fork and shove it towards his mouth.
'Eat it before I make you.'
'No.'
He bolts from the chair and runs around the island in the kitchen. I grab the whipped cream from the table and run to him. He runs away quicker and I grab the food coloring from the cupboard.
'You're getting it now, you prude.'
I mix the food coloring and cream inside he can and put the cap back on. He watches me warily and I leap on to the counter. I slide across knocking the paper towels off the island and I reach him. He makes for an exit but I jump on his back.
I wrap my hands around his neck and squirt the cream all over him. It falls on his face and blue whipped cream stains his clothes. He falls under my weight and I continue to cover him in the whipped cream.
When that's done, I grab the plate of pancakes and chuck it on him. Maple syrup, straw berries and pancakes slide on to his face and I place the plate on the counter.
'Now eat your fucking pancakes.'
