Chapter 1

I stare out into the night. Bits of light scatter the sky from the stars. The moon gives most of the light to the warm summer evening. I take a deep breath in.
Tomorrow I will be going to Warped Tour with Madi. And then we'd be heading off to LA. I'm so young though, to be leaving my parents. I'm only sixteen. But I have a future ahead of me that my parents are willing to give me up for.
Madi's a year older than me and has graduated high school so she's living with me basically. She starts college while I start looking for band auditions.
My phone buzzes. A text from Madi saying to set my alarm and that she'll call me in the morning. I sigh. Its almost midnight and I really do need sleep. Especially since we're going to be at the venue at seven in the morning.
I head from my roof, in through the window, and into my room and lay on my bed. I shut my eyes and try to imagine myself singing on one of those stages one day.
