Chapter 1

I trip as I walk home from school, my face landing in a mud puddle. I quickly lift my head and spit out the nasty water, cursing myself for being so clumsy.

I lift myself into a sitting position and pull back my h/c hair into a ponytail. I sigh. Can't I not be clumsy for once?

I look down at my f/c jacket. Covered in dirt. Great. My jeans are completely covered. There's probably no hope for my high tops too.

My phone vibrates inside my back jean pocket. I reach back and slip it out. The top part of my phone case is slightly splattered with mud. I look at the text. It's from Daphne, my friend from school. It reads:

Hey, y/n, where are you? The gang and I waiting!

I blink. What?

Then I remember. We are supposed to be going to watch a scary movie together! How could I forget?

I look down at my dirt covered clothes. I can't go like this!

I glance at my book bag, knowing the contents inside were untouched by the filth. I groan. Ugh.

I was going to have to wear my gym clothes.
