Chapter 1

Finally after saving my money for the past eight months, I could afford my own house to live in. I stepped up to the front door of the flat with my suitcase in hand. The rest of my stuff would be delivered later. It felt nice to be taking a semester off from college. To tell you the truth, I could really use a break, and now that I'd gotten one, I intended to use it. Even after I got back I planned on using this flat, no more dorm rooms for me! I didn't even have to get a job, I had enough money to be buying high-class steaks every night with the extra bonus my parents gave me before leaving and getting something a little more permanent than a dorm room.

The flat was looked to be incredibly nice, considering the price of rent wasn't very high. It was a little over half of what other comparing flats had been like. Of course it wouldn't be hard to get a roommate, but I just don't think I could handle a roommate. There was nothing quite like being able to scream at the top of your lungs at two a.m. with nothing and no one to worry about besides neighbors. Roommates and families kind of ruin the fun when it comes to things like that because they're "sleeping" or whatever. No sharing, no caring, that's what I was looking forward to this summer.

I stepped through the front door, all was quiet throughout the house, as it should be. The pristine white modern furniture was illuminated by the floor to ceiling sliding glass wall facing the front door. A white brick fireplace stood to the left, and the kitchen was through an open archway next to it. A grand piano stood proudly at the center of the room, the black contrasting the white to create a picture perfect living room.

I took off my shoes and started walking towards the hallway on the right. There should be two bedrooms with adjoining bathrooms through here, along with a third guest bedroom, and a guest bathroom. It really was a nicer place than I expected it to be. I entered each of the rooms as I passed them. Nothing was out of place.

As I neared the last master bedroom, the one I wanted as my own, I heard a slight sound. It was almost like a soft growl every now and then, and very very quiet.

What the hell is that noise? My footsteps became softer as they came up to the closed door that was the last master bedroom.

Hmmm.  All the other doors were open. I lightly placed my ear against the door. The noise was definitely coming from this room. Placing my hand lightly on the door handle, I opened the door as quietly as I could. It opened smoothly, no squeaks or creaks to be heard. Stepping into the room, I found the source of the noise, but it was not growling.

A boy about my age was sprawled out across the bed, snoring softly. I stepped quietly over to the bed, and took a look at him. He had dark brown hair that covered his forehead, and dark eyes with thick eyelashes. It looked like he could have been wearing makeup. He wasn't scrawny, but he wasn't built either, unlike me who probably seemed small compared to him. Overall, he was really good-looking. Pshhhh. He could probably get any girl he wanted.

I leaned down to look at him a little better when he suddenly opened his eyes, blinking against the light. He focused on my face, and his eyes met mine, a startling blue against my emerald green. I backed away, surprised and cautious as he sat up.

"Enjoying the show?" he asked. His voice, smooth and even, matched his looks. "You know, it's kinda creepy to wander into other people's houses to watch them sleep."

"Wait, what do you mean your house?" I asked. "I rented this flat, there wasn't supposed to be anyone else living here."

He frowned. "No. You aren't supposed to be here because I rented this flat." As he stood up off the bed, I realized he was taller than me, by about two inches.
