She decided to give it one more try.
"Lauren please, it'll be fun I promise." Camila pleaded again staring deeply into the older girl's green eyes.
"No way in fucking hell, I already told you like a billion times and nothing will change my mind, I'm sorry." Lauren responded and took a sip from the glass of cold water in front of her.
The smell of burgers and hotdogs soon became evident coming from the traditional Jauregui's 4th of July BBQ, which Michael gladly decided to organize each year. They invited their closest friends over for a fun afternoon, including the Cabellos after they had met each other two years ago and become almost inseparable.
"Are you mad at me?" Lauren asked Camila softly.
"No, I'm not mad, it's just... Never mind." Camila answered slightly disappointed.
"Come on Camz, you know the fans would lose their shit if I'm with you." The older girl explained trying to excuse her choice.
"It's just a twitcam Lo, I'm not asking you to make a sex tape with me." Camila answered laughing lightheartedly, but an evident shade of red took over Lauren's cheeks. "Besides, you don't reach one million followers on Twitter everyday, and I wanted to celebrate with my best friend, that's all." She added with a sigh.
"You should've asked Dinah then." Lauren said kinking an eyebrow.
"Maybe if you weren't such a paranoid idiot we could still hang out like we used too." Camila shot back defiantly, enjoying the entertaining discussion going on.
"Touché." Lauren gave in raising her glass once more before she felt a pair of hands on her shoulders.
"What are you guys talking about?" Luis Felipe, Lauren's boyfriend, asked sitting on a chair nearby.
"Nothing really." Camila answered quickly, clearly uncomfortable because of the presence of the older male.
"Nice game today, huh? Brazil deserved to win." He commented trying to start a conversation with the girl he knew meant a lot to his girlfriend, even if their friendship had been a little rocky sometimes.
"Well you know what they say about Brazilians." Lauren told Luis plating a kiss on his cheek.
"I should go check on Sofi. You know, make sure she didn't drown in the pool or something." Camila excused herself standing up from the plastic chair she had been sitting on comfortably before the arrival of the young man.
"Are you alright Camz? You look kinda pale." Lauren asked concerned standing up as well.
"Yeah, I'm fine. It must be the heat, I better go get something to drink." She responded with a smile and walked quickly towards the kitchen.
"Hey Camilita, come take a look." Alejandro stopped her proudly pointing at the grill he had helped Michael with.
"I'm sorry dad, I need to... I need to go to the bathroom." She stuttered slightly, feeling her knees get weaker by the second.
"Are you okay hija? You look dizzy." He said walking closer to her.
"I'm fine, I just... I gotta go." Camila answered almost running to the nearest bathroom she could find. She felt the first tears staring to run slowly down her cheek, and then she realized it was happening again.
Locking herself in the bathroom, she washed her face numerous times, being unable to hide the redness in her eyes revealing she had been crying. But Camila wasn't sad, instead she was once again finding herself in a complicated position. What she was feeling was undeniable, blatant jealousy. And anger, and confusion, but overall she was extremely jealous.
Jealous of the Brazilian teenager who got to spend most of the time with Lauren when they were back home in Miami.
Before Luis was in the picture, her and Lauren hung out almost every single day, missing each other too much when they didn't. They needed each other, but not anymore. Luis had taken over that spot in Lauren's life, and that made Camila really angry. Mostly angry at herself for reacting that way whenever he was around, but she was also angry at Lauren for replacing her that easily.
"Get it together you idiot." Camila muttered to herself softly taking a deep breath.
She hated to feel that way. She should've felt happy for her closest friend. Finding a love considering the busy schedule they had started to experience since The X Factor wasn't an easy task, which made Lauren an extremely lucky girl for finding someone like Luis. But Camila wasn't happy for her, maybe because she just didn't really like the guy, or maybe because deep inside, she hoped Lauren would only have eyes for her.
