Chloe Saunders was far from stupid, no matter what the others thought; so when Derek had told her that Simon and Tori had just decided themselves to go to town for a few hours tonight she knew better. Sure she may have heard a few small threats from a certain werewolf that she wasn't meant to but she would have figured it out, eventually. But even if she hadn't, Liz had, and the blonde was standing guard at Chloe's door like she had been the whole day, not allowing the necromancer out to investigate the numerous banging noises coming from the other side of the house. Liz got up, silently motioning that she was watching the strawberry blonde, and walked out the door. Liz came running back in after just a few moments like a small child who had just heard the ice cream truck coming down the block. "Derek is coming!" She squealed before realizing she had just given away that something really was going on
"Oh is he?" Chloe said smiling as she sat up on the bed "Well I'm glad I haven't been cooped up all day for nothing.." she said slowly hoping Liz would spill more
"Uh uh, Tori may be trying to teach you her ways but I am not spoiling this for you, I'll see you later tonight" she grinned laying a ghostly hand on Chloe's shoulder before fading away.
Well, Derek was planning something so now all Chloe had to do was make him tell her what it was. How hard could it be to make a werewolf twice her size tell her a secret specifically hidden from her? With that thought she pushed herseelf off her bed and walked to her bedroom door, pausing for a moment to smooth out her shirt before swinging open the door only to be greeted by a half raised hand ready to knock on her forehead.
"You stopped so I thought I would knock" Derek chuckled lowering his hand smiling a crooked smile that never failed to make Chloe's heart melt
"I had to fix my shirt.." Chloe mumbled smiling back at him reflexively almost losing track of her mission
"Are Simon and Tori still gone?" she questioned looking up into his deep jade eyes
"Yes, but don't start missing them yet, I have a surprise for you" Derek grinned pulling out something from his pocket and wrapping it around Chloes head covering her eyes before she could protest "no peaking"
Chloe giggled and started down the hallway letting Derek lead her to their destination, finally she sat on something soft, the couch? Okay so her surprise was in the livingroom.. But with her eyes closed she focused on her other senses, the smell of vanilla and a faint scent of tomato sauce? A small sound of a sneeze, Derek growling "stupid super smell, had to be vanilla.." under his breath. Maybe if she just barely lifted the blindfold she could figure it out. She heard Derek set something down in front of her as she was reaching for the blindfold "I said no peaking" he said playfully swatting her hand away. "Alright, it isn't much but.." he trailed off as he unwrapped the blindfold. The room was dark aside from a dozen candles scattered around the room, two plates of pasta sat in front of her, one piled high enough she felt like it would slide off the plate at any moment.
"I figured it was about time for our first real date" Derek said quietly studying Chloe's face for a reaction.
"I-it's perfect" she whispered as tears began to fill her eyes. "Oh come on" she thought to herself, "you hate surprises and you've been trying to figure this out all day and now you're crying about it"
Derek smiled and kissed both of her cheeks wiping away a tear that had ran down her face
"Did you make this by yourself?" she asked looking back at the plates
"Yeah, and I'm glad it made it to the table, I'm starving" Derek said eyeballing the pasta on his over full plate
Chloe laughed and patted the spot on the couch next to her "Well then come on, lets eat"
Derek sat and leaned over brushing his lips against hers for a moment before grabbing his fork and digging into his pasta. Maybe Chloe didn't like surprises, but she thought she could always make an exception to that for her werewolf.
