Smiles and Tears

Chapter 1

"Hi! I'm Ariana Hoshizora! I'm a Picture Book Loving 8th Grader! I just moved to Märchland! And I am attending a new school! I am so excited! I love friends! I can't wait to make some! I want someone who is really nice to be my friend!" I see a road turn. "Could this be one of those mysterious turns like in picture books?" I run to the turn and face the direction of the road. Nothing is there. "Silly me! Thinking something good will happen! Only those things happen in books!" I see a sparkly feather on the ground. I pick it up. "Wow! So Pretty!" I am staring at it in awe, but I'm forgetting one thing. School! I jump up and put the feather in my backpack and run to school.

"Ok Class! We have a new student! Hoshizora, come in!" Mrs. Peach says. I walk in staring at the teacher. I'm trying not to look at the big class! I'll get too nervous. "Face the class and introduce yourself!" Mrs. Peach says to me. I try to face the class. When I get a good look of all the people in every desk, I start to get really nervous! "AAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!! THERE IS SO MANY PEOPLE HERE!!!!! I CAN'T INTRODUCE MYSELF!!!!!!!" I say to myself. "NO!!!!!! DON'T THINK THAT WAY!!!! YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!" I say to myself. "BUT WHAT IF I MAKE A FOOL OUT OF MYSELF?!?!?!" I complain to myself. "EVERYTHING'LL BE FINE!!!!!!!" I comfort myself. But that didn't work. I was totally freaking out inside! "Are you ok?" Someone asks me. "Huh?" I ask. "Oh! Uh, Er, My Name is.... Er, Ariana Hoshizora. It's Um, Very Nice to meet you..." I try to say. "Don't Worry! I will do the presentation for you!" That same girl says to me. She walks up to me and takes a good look at me. "Hmmmmmm... Let's see......" She said while examining me. "You're a bit of an Airhead, but inside you are really focused! And you have a little brother. You love to chase him around! His name is..... Armando Hoshizora! And you also like to play with your cat! And......." The girl was saying, but Mrs. Peach interrupts her. "Hino! That's enough!" Everyone was laughing. Apparently, this Hino girl must love to make people laugh. "Hino! Self presentations are supposed to be made by the self!" A very pretty girl with long beautiful hair said. "Not by any one else!" Another very pretty girl with short hair in a ponytail said. "Oh Yea! Hoshizora! That's Mia Midorikawa, The Soccer All Star who is very mature! But she is also a scaredy-cat!" Hino said to me pointing to the girl with the ponytail. "Scaredy-Cat?" Mia said. "And that's Reina Aoki, The Class president. Also very mature. Also all of the boys thinks she's a real hottie!" Hino said to me pointing to the girl with the long hair. "Hottie?" Reina said. Hino laughed. "And I'm Amy Hino! I know what it's like to be a new student because I moved here last year! And I also love to make people laugh!" Amy said to me. "Hino! Sit down!" Mrs. Peach said to Amy. Amy whispers "You will do fine!" In my ear. Then she sits down. "Don't worry! Amy was just joking around to loosen you up a bit!" A girl in front of me said to me. "Oh! And that's Emily Kise! She is a crybaby. Say one thing to her and she bursts into tears." Amy said to me from her seat. "That's not true! I only cried 3 times!" Emily said to Amy. The whole class laughed. "Thank you everyone! You know what? I'm not nervous no more! Let me try again! Hi! I'm Ariana Hoshizora! I love picture books! I love to read them a lot! I especially love how they all have a happy ending! It fills me up with happiness! And I get Ultra Happy! It is very nice to meet you all!" I say. Everyone claps. "That was very nice Hoshizora!" Mrs. Peach walks to me. "Now, are there any empty seats?" She asks. Amy puts her hand up. "There's a seat next to me!" She says. I go over there. "Nice to meet you Ariana!" Amy says to me. "Nice to meet you too Amy!" I say with a huge smile.

After school is over, Amy brings her chair to my desk. "You want me to show you around? This place can get really confusing!" Amy offers to me. "Thanks! But I have to go somewhere and I can't be late. I'll see you tomorrow!!" I say to Amy waving as I am walking away.

"I really wish that I wasn't nervous!" I say to myself. "But I guess that's how the world wanted me to meet my first friend!" I say smiling. "First Friend huh?" A strange deep voice asked me. I look up. I see this man wearing all black. "Um... Do I know you?" I ask him. "You will know!!! Because I am the Bad End Prince!!!" The Man said. "Bad End Prince? Like a Prince in picture books?" I ask. "No! I'm the opposite of those guys in those dumb books!" He says. My smile turned to a frown. "Picture Books are Not Dumb!!!!" I yell at him. "You will know once you see my monster!!!!" He holds out something. It explodes and turns the Bad End Prince into a giant robot! "A robot?!?!" I scream. The robot starts walking toward me and is going to step on me. I was pretty sure I was dead. But then I opened my eyes to see the robot on the ground. There were 4 girls by him. One had a pretty blue dress! Another had a pretty green dress! Another had a pretty yellow dress! And the last one had a pretty orange dress! They all somehow matched! They all also looked pretty familiar! But there are a lot of girls who look a lot alike! So I'm probably mistaken. The Bad End Prince got up and grabbed me. "Let go of me!" I kept yelling at him. The 4 girls started fighting him. The yellow girl started to shock him with lightning! The orange girl started to hit him with fireballs! Th green girl started to kick discs that were coming fast at really high wind speeds! The blue girl made a swirl that surrounded the robot of snow! The robot froze! And I also froze! Then the robot fell to the ground. I fell too. I was too frozen to get up so I just laid there on the ground. I went unconscious. All of the girls surrounded me. "I hope she's ok!" The blue one kept saying. "She better be!" The orange one said. All the girls looked at her. "She isn't just any girl you guys! It's Ariana!" The orange one yelled to the 3 girls. The yellow one gasped. "Beauty! This can't hurt her, right?" The green one asked The blue one. "It was meant to hurt the monster! I guess it also has an effect on people!" She said. The yellow one felt my leg. "She's Ice Cold!!" She yelled. "We have to do something!" The green one said. "Then why don't you do something, March! You're pretty good with kids! I mean, you have 5 little siblings!" The orange one said. "But wind will only make it worse! Sunny!" The green one scolded the orange one. "Sunny! You are the only one who can warm her!" The blue one said pushing the orange one towards me. "Why me?" She kept saying. "You're Sunny for a reason!!!!" The green one scolded the orange one. The orange one sighed and touched my heart with her finger. I warmed up and felt better. I sat up. I looked at all the pretty girls. The green one offered her hand to help me up. I grabbed it and got up. "Thanks for saving me!" I said to them all. "No problem!" The green one said. I couldn't help but to hug them all. I'm a hugger! "What's your names?" I ask them. "I'm Power Peace!" The yellow one said holding up a peace sign. "I'm Power March!" The green one said holding her hand out. "I'm Power Beauty!" The blue one said putting one arm in the air and the other on her hip. "I'm Power Sunny!" The orange one said putting a fist through the air, almost like a punch. "Wow!!!! SO COOL!!!!!!!" I gushed. "Wait! I'm gonna try too! I'm Power Cute!!!" I say holding a heart up. Everyone laughed. Then I realized that I don't have a dress like theirs. So it didn't work. "Can I ask you guys something?" I ask them. March came up to me and nodded. "You guys look SOOOO familiar!!!! It's like I know who you are!" I say. "Are you a normal girl or a Powerette hunter?" Sunny asks me. "Completely normal. Just ordinary me!" I smile and point to my face. Everyone laughs. "But no. You don't know us. Well, now you know because we just told you!" Beauty said. "K!" I say. March, Beauty, and Peace fly off. I stop Sunny. "Thanks again for saving me. I think Sunny is very cool!" I say. "Thanks! And No Problem!" Sunny says to me. She winks at me, then flies off. Then I remember where I had to be! I run as fast as I can until I reach home.

After the store, I went to the park! I always love to play at the park if I'm not reading picture books! I've always wanted to climb that rope! I can never do that. But I'm going to try. I start to climb. I almost fell but I didn't. I climb higher and higher. I was going to touch the top, I was right there! But I fell! I slipped and fell and I'm going to crash on the ground. But when I hit the ground, I wasn't hurt. I just heard someone else complaining. I get up to see that I fell on someone. Not someone! MY BEST FRIEND AMY!!!!!!! She saved me! "I AM SOOOO SORRY AMY!!!!!" I start yelling while helping her up. "It's ok!" She kept saying to me. "I saw you falling and I quickly ran under you!" She said to me. "You didn't have to! I am always falling. I'm pretty clumsy!" I said to her. "I had to! It hurts me to see people in pain!" She says to me. "Except for bad guys right?" I say to Amy. "Bad Guys? What are you talking about?" She asked me. "C'mon Amy! You know what I'm talking about! You totally are those Powerette Girls!" I say punching the air. "Powerette? Ariana! Snap out of it! You must be reading too many picture books!" Amy said to me. "It's true! There was this one girl who sounded and looked EXACTLY LIKE YOU!!!!!!!!!" I started shouting and jumping up and down. "You know, People can look the same. And also People can sound the same!" Amy told Me. "Oh. Sorry! I'm really sorry! These things usually just get to my head! But I guess that's what makes me, me!" I say to Amy. "You're too funny, Ariana!" Amy says while laughing. "Do you wanna come to my house?" I ask. Amy nods.

When I get home, I quickly have a little chat with my mom. "So don't embarrass me in front of my new best friend!" I say to her. She is just staring at me. "Ok!" She finally says. "Yes!" I say as I rush to open the door. I told Amy to stay there while I talk to my mom. "Hello, Mrs. Hoshizora!" She says with a huge smile. "Hello!" She says with a huge smile also. "Mom! This is Amy! Amy! This is my Mom!" I say to them. "If you need us, we'll be in my room!" I quickly say while pushing Amy.

"This is my room!" I say with a huge smile. "Wow! It's pink!" She says. I nod. I really love the color pink. "What do you wanna do?" I ask Amy. Amy shrugs and takes out one of my magazines. "Big Summer Secrets?" She read from a page. "Yes! One Direction's Juiciest Summer Secrets! And also what they look for in girls!" I say to Amy. She reads the page. "I could care less about boys. But some of my friends are Boys." Amy says handing me back the magazine. It wasn't until 10 minutes as we started to hang out, that something smelled. "Ariana! Something is definitely burning!" Amy says to me, covering my nose. "Wanna come to see what it is?" I ask her. Amy nods and we head down stairs. We went to the kitchen and the stove was on fire! Mom wasn't there! "MOM!!!!!! THE STOVE'S ON FIRE!!!!!!!" I yell. Mom runs into the kitchen with a bucket of water. "Ariana! How's pizza for dinner?" Mom asks me. "What were you making?" I ask her. "They were supposed to be burgers! I just had to make a quick phone call when you yelled." Mom says. "Darn!! I really wanted something that you actually made instead of take out!!" I said helping mom throwing out the burnt food. "Mrs. Hoshizora! Let me handle this!" Amy says getting to the stove. "Amy! You don't have to!" Mom says. "My family owns a restaurant. And I make the food." Amy says. "SOOOO AMAZING!!!!!!!!" I gush. "I'll get out of your way." Mom says leaving the kitchen. "Amy! You're so Amazing!!!" I say while watching her. "This is nothing, really!" She says.

In a couple minutes, I call my mom for dinner! I rushed to my seat because I wanna be the first to taste the food! I take a large bite. "SOOOOOOOO GOOOOOOOOOD!!!!!! I COULD MARRY THIS!!!!!!!" I gush really loudly. "Thanks!" Amy says. "You are so lucky that when you have dinner, you don't have to take out! You can make your own little something!" I say to Amy. Amy laughs.

After dinner, Me and Amy rush back to the room. "That was so good! Amy! You're the best!" I say to her. "Thanks!" I smile at her. "Amy! Text your mom if you can stay over here all night!" I say. Amy got really excited! "Yes! This is going to be the best!" She says.

After Me and Amy walk to her house to pick up her things, I saw her little brother. "YOU'RE SO CUTE!!!!!!" I say as I hug him. "Hey! Amy! Who is this?" He asks Amy. "That's my best friend, Ariana! Ariana! This is John! My annoying little brother!" Amy laughs. "More like annoying sister!" John laughs. "Well, I'm going to Ariana's for the night! Keep that up and we will..." Amy starts to say but I interrupt. "GIVE YOU A MAKEOVER!!!!!!!" I shout really excitedly. "Yea! That!" Amy says. "Ok! Ok! I'll just help you pack!" He says helping me and Amy. "Wow! He listens to you?" I ask Amy. "Only when I antagonize him." Amy says giving John a devious grin. John completely ignored us. Me and Amy laughed. "Bye John!!!" I wave with a giant smile!

"This is going to be awesome!" Amy says. She throws a fist up in the air. Remind me of someone? Yep! Power Sunny!
