"alright mom i'm here" i say through the phone as i glance up at the apartment building

"okay karla, you no the deal no drugs no liquor and pregnancies" my moms says

"mom i know i know" i say adjusting my phone between my ear and shoulder

"i just want my baby to be safe, when you become a mother you'll understand"

i smiled at her sentence as i take a deep breath walking inside

"i will mom i promise i won't do anything that isn't safe for me"

"alright honey... i love you! make sure you call me every week updating me on your new life!" she says happily

"don't worry i will! love you mom bye!" i say before hanging up

i finally moved out to los angeles on my own so i can go to my dream college that i got a scholarship for

i've been boarded up all my life and so to finally be on my own at only 18, it feels so refreshing

my mom works out in new jersey and has her own business to attend to so she couldn't move out here with me

i can finally can go out to parties, have my own adventures, buy my first car, make new friendships

i'm only 18 and i don't fully understand the adult thing yet but i'm slowly getting used to it

i finally make my way to the door as i do a little dance squealing around

this was my first time ever sharing a place with someone i didn't know but it also was an exciting feeling

i hope we'll become close friends

i ring the doorbell a few times and even leave some heavy knocks practically banging on the door, i groan as i take out my key twisting the doorknob as i open the beige door

girls clothing was scattered everyone leaving me confused

huh, i guess shawn is a girl

the place with a mess with all her clothing on the floor looking like she was murdered or something

but the rest of the apartment was very nice especially the kitchen and dining room but then i see the bookcase was knocked over and some of the books were fallen out

yikes never seen a house so dirty before

i guess i'll go attend to my room doing some of my own unpacking

i see her skirt up a head

she is definitely not the cleanest girl

i walk down the hall but pause when i hear some screams as my heart pounds and my stomach twists in a knot

so she is home... what's going on?

"help me! help! fu-fuck!"

i hear her say as a few moans escape leaving me to panic

she must have her boyfriend with her, he must be abusing her right now

what to do what to do

i never seen anyone personally being physically abused before so i was pretty scared making a decision in my head

what if the guy has a gun or knife? what if he kills me right after?

"FUCK!"

i yelp hearing her scream once again as i make my way to the closed door, there was a lot of moaning

poor girl is probably being stabbed to death... or brutally beaten

i never seen this in a movie before, what do i do? grab a pan?

i take a deep breath before twisting the door knob open being prepared to see my roommate being attacked

at first i didn't realize anything

until two faces looked at me in horror as the only thing covering them was a grey sheet protecting their clothe less bodies

we all froze gazing at each other as my mouth formed an 'o' shape

i was so puzzled at the scene, who were these people?

the brown haired boy got off the bed almost tripping from the blanket as he pulled up his boxers

it finally sunk in as i cover my poor virgin eyes with my hand "oh my god!" i shout

"man what the fuck!" he yells "who the fuck are you!"

"who am i? who are you, and what are you doing in my house!" i say

"your house?" he scoffs crossing his arms "wait are you camila?" he asks as i peek my eyes through my hand

"what?" i ask confused "how do you know my name?"

"well...." he says scratching the back of his neck "this is going to shock you"

"because i'm your roommate, shawn mendes"
