When Did We Fall In Love

Prologue

Bucky and Kaylee have known each other since they were babies even if Kaylee is 6 months younger than Bucky. The first memory Bucky has of Kaylee is when they were 3 years old at her mom's funeral. Kaylee's parents were both in the army and lived next door to the Barnes family when they lived on the military base. Kaylee lost her mom while she was over seas after her parents got divorced. Her dad David and Kaylee were living off base when they got the news about her mom. 

Bucky was holding his mom's hand at the funeral when he seen little Kaylee sitting in a chair tapping her shoes together he pulled on his mom's hand "Mama who is the little girl?'as he pointed to Kaylee. "Oh sweetie that's Kaylee she use to come play with you do you not remember?" Winnie said as she squatted down to him.

"No mama." Bucky said 

Winnie said "I will be right back David and James I'm going to let him go talk to Kaylee." as she walked Bucky over to Kaylee. 

"Hey Kaylee I'm Winnie do you remember me?" Winnie said as they got over to her chair. 

She shook her head no and said "Why won't my mama wake up I keep calling her name and she won't wake up." 

Winnie looked down as it broke her heart that Kaylee was to young to understand. "Hi I'm Bucky." Bucky said to Kaylee. Kaylee waved her little hand at him and said "I'm Kaylee....uh oh." and Winnie looked down and saw that Kaylee had an accident. 

"Hey David did you bring her extra clothes." Winnie said 

David sighed and said "Yeah I did..I feel so lost I've been taking care of her trying to get her potty trained since we moved off base and she just can't seem to get it." 

"It's ok David accidents happen I will go get her cleaned up and I've been meaning to tell you that we just bought a house off base that is right next door to yours so I will be around to help you with her." Winnie said as she grabs the bag and takes Kaylee to the bathroom.

A few weeks later the Barnes family moved in next door as James retired from the army. Kaylee was drawing with her chalk in the garage where her dad could see her when she heard "Hi Kaylee." she looked up and said "BUCKY!!" and went running and hugged him and he hugged her back. Winnie came around the corner and said "Hi Kaylee how are you?"

"Hi Winnie." she said 

David came out the door and said "Oh you guys finally get all moved in." 

"Yes we did. She seems to be happier." Winnie said

"Yeah she's doing a little better I still can't get her to eat much but she is peeing in the potty which is good I guess." David as he looked at his daughter drawing on the garage floor with Bucky. 

"Yes that's very good." Winnie said 

Bucky and Kaylee were playing tag and he caught her and fell on top of her and he said "You have blue eyes like me." 

She laughed and said "Yes I do.." 

"What are these?" he said as he pointed to her dimples when she smiled 

"Oh daddy said those are dimples that I got them from my mommy." she said 

"I like them." he said 

From that day on Bucky and Kaylee were attached at the hip and every year on the first day of school they always walked in together holding hands. As the years went on they collected more friends that included Steve Rogers Natasha Romanoff Sam Wilson Wanda Maximoff and Clint Barton and Carol Danvers. The girls did cheerleading together and the boys played football Kaylee was still the youngest of the group. When middle school started Winnie and David and James gave Bucky and Kaylee the sex talk together and by 7th grade Bucky and Kaylee made a promise to each other that they wouldn't let anyone or anything come between their friendship.
