Violet's Garden

Violet

It was an enchanting summer's morning. The flowers were in full bloom and birds were chirping. Violet, a beautiful eight-year-old girl, witnesses her parents fighting and yelling strange words such as "Divorce."  This being too much for an eight-year-old, Violet ventures into the kitchen hoping to find her toy cat 'Toulouse'. She sees him on the top of the kitchen counter which is just a 'smidge' taller than Violet. She grabs his paw and pulls him down which also causes a bottle of pills to fall onto the floor. They were her mother's 'special pills' and Violet was told never to touch them. Violet stares at them.They were almost every colour of the rainbow. Violet knew she wasn't supposed to touch them but she couldn't resist. They look like the sweetest candy she's ever tasted. She took off the cap and picked out a red pill and put it into her mouth. Unfortunately, it didn't taste as she had expected it would but she didn't spit it out. Violet put the cap back on and put the pills back onto the counter.

Her parent's yelling got louder so Violet decided to go outside to adventure. Violet's garden was enormous. It has plenty of big green trees that made it almost look like a forest and flower of every colour. Violet sees squirrels climbing up trees, birds having a bath in the fountain and yellow butterflies fluttering around the flowers. Violet sits down a patch of shade under an old oak tree and watches the birds. Suddenly all the bird's stop what they are doing and turn to look at Violet.

"Why are you alone, child?" One of the birds chirps.

Violet jumps back and gets to her feet. She stands still shocked by what had just happened. A moment ago these birds were chirping and bathing in the fountain. Violet finally speaks up.

"My parents are inside, they're fighting." Suddenly, the ground underneath her begins to shake and move. Violet jumps out of the way.

The old oak tree she was sitting under begins to move. The old oak tree suddenly starts to resemble a face. The eyes of the tree open and stare at Violet.

"Hello, Violet, it's nice to finally talk to you," the tree says steadily.

"We need your help to save a flower that use to be planted right next to me before an evil weed kidnapped her. Will you help us?" the tree asks.

Violet is shocked and just nods her head. The old oak trees leaves begin to shake violently around and the middle of the old oak tree cracks into two, making a small passageway just large enough for Violet to fit through.Being inquisitive, Violet walks into the passageway, but not before looking over her shoulder one last time. Violet's body suddenly tumbles down onto a giant lily leaf. Violet looks around. She sees that she has landed into a large pound. The lily leaf suddenly begins to glide across the water towards land. Violet looks around seeing fields of flowers and big butterflies fluttering around, but Violet isn't drifting towards them. Instead she was drifting toward dark skeleton-like trees and strange terrifying sounds. Violet tries to paddle with her hands back to shore. Unfortunately, this has done  absolutely nothing. Unexpectedly the lily leaf abruptly stops throwing Violet onto the land. Violet tumbles and lands at the edge of the dark woods. Violet slowly gets up brushing off the dirt on her dress. Violet takes in a big breath and courageously begins to walk into the woods. Violet looks above to see crows circling her. She begins to walk faster, but they continue to follow. Suddenly the crows start swooping her and pecking at her hair. Violet runs as fast as she can. She sees the end of the woods ahead. Violet prays that when she reaches the end of the woods they will stop. Violet takes a giant leap falling on her knees, making it out of the woods. Violet's prayers are answered and the crows leave her alone and fly off. Violet sees a giant mountain before her and there at the top a beautiful violet flower.

Violet looks at the mountain for a moment and realises that it will be too hard to climb. Violet feels a sharp pain in her knees as she starts to get up. She begins to cry from the pain but is still determined to get up the mountain. Just as Violet is thinking of a way to make it up the mountain. A loud noise vibrates the trees, Violet looks up to see one of the giant butterflies from the flower fields. The beautiful white butterfly lands beside Violet.

" Why are you crying? You're so very loud." Questioned the butterfly.

"I hurt my knees and I don't think I can get up the mountain to save a violet flower." Violet sobs.

"Hmmm... I'll give you a ride on my back if you will stop crying." The butterfly cheerfully says, putting his giant wing down to the ground making a ramp for Violet to walk up onto his back.

Violet thanks the butterfly, wiping away her tears and hops onto the butterfly's back. They soar up to the very top of the mountain. Violet gets off and thanks the butterfly for the help waving him goodbye. Violet turns around to see the beautiful violet flower staring at her.

"I'm here to save you, the old oak tree sent me" Violet exclaimes.
"Oh, I miss him please take me home!" The violet flower delightfully says.
Just as Violet is about to pluck the violet flower, a giant shadow appears. It was the biggest and ugliest weed Violet has ever seen. The evil weed charges at Violet pushing her off the mountain. Everything goes Black.

Violet, an eight-year-old girl, so young and adventurous, had inevitably lost her grasp on life. There was nothing the doctors could do. She was so young, her body couldn't save her. The eight-year-old had hallucinated the whole journey.

Writer's statement:
Violet's Garden is about an 8 year old girl that takes one of her parents pills that she has been told not to eat. This pill ends up to be an LSD pill which causes Violet to hallucinate. In this hallucination Violet is ask by a talking oak tree, to save a violet flower that has been kidnapped by and evil weed. Violet saving a violet flower symbolism for Violet's body trying to save her from dying. This story was to show the dangers on leaving drugs in the reach of a child.
