I'll drink my grape juice and pretend it's wine.
We all think when we grow up is when we'll finally feel fine.
The drama will cease and well find love, joy and peace.
Husbands will comfort and friends will gather.
Because now all we have are exes and heartbreaks and family that flickers.
I'll drink my coffee and ponder like adults do,
Wonder whether the light drives out darkness or rather
If our darkness drives out the light.
Relationships faultier and all we want is to be older.
Because we assume a sip of alcohol and a paycheck will fix everything
That a 9-5 would be more satisfying.
Because you won't be 16 forever
And youth, soon severed,
Time is precious and we all want to fall in love
As if that will fix our problems, and not magnify them.
