"EPISODE 2"
june 4, 1987

he lay on the sand, sunlight shining
down on him. his cheeks a little sunburnt,
and his porcelain skin glistening.

he pushed his dark hair back, and shaded his unreadable eyes from the blinding beams with his hand.

"they say the truth is like the sun," he
mumbled out, glancing at me.

i observed his cherry lips as they moved
and spilled out an ocean of words.

"let me guess," i said to him, "because no one can ever look at it in the face without blinking?"

"precisely, how'd you know?" he picked up a handful of sand and let each morsel slip through his slim fingers.

"you mentioned it once before."

he let out a silky chuckle, "i can't believe you remembered."

i fixed my gaze on the horizon, where the sea met the sky, "how could i forget?"
