I am drowning.
The water filling the lungs
the eyes bursting with liquid
until they pop
out
and the retina exposed...
it dies
and
I am blind.
No longer do I see colors
or life
I only see black
the stench of death clouding
the nerves
until I see no more black
I see nothing.
I am water.
I burst the ocean's lungs
I pop out its inner heart
until it, too
is blind.
No longer does it swell and breathe
like a newborn babe
but it lies flat
it is nothing.
I have clouded the souls of the ocean
I have clouded them with a stench
the stench of manmade crafts
of your bottles
and my bags
and Grandfather's glasses
and Sister's wayward
trinkets.
I have clouded the Lady of the Water
until her waves rush no longer
and she is dead
and she is flat.
And now
I am drowning.
The water filling the lungs
the eyes bursting with liquid
until they pop
out
and the retina exposed...
it dies
and
I am blind.
