Rain, Rain Go Away

Rain.

Heavy rain.

Pouring down.

Like ice cold bullets when it hits my skin.

I stand there.

Alone.

Shivering.

Crying.

Depressed.

I look across the street.

Two young lovers.

Sharing their first kiss.

Cuddling each other.

In the rain.

But they are warm.

Both happy.

Both warm.

I hear kids laughing.

Giggling.

They swarm out into the rain.

They jump in the puddles.

Sing in the rain.

They play together.

In the rain.

Splish-splash.

They are happy.

They are loved.

I cower by a street lamp.

It flickers as if I've hurt it.

I look up.

Even a street lamp doesn't want me.

I stand.

Shaking from the cold wind blowing around me.

I'm wet.

My hair tangled.

My clothes drenched.

When will this raincloud clear?

When will I be happy again?

When will I see blue skies?

When will I be wanted?

When will I be loved?

Rain, rain, go away. Come again another day.
