Spring was coming, I thought gratefully.
Though it was still cold, the air smelled sweeter, and it was the perfect time to have a late birthday celebration for Yoongi.I haven't seen them in months, and was only able to call to congratulate him. Now was my time to make up for it. I carried the box of donuts towards their dance studio, enjoying the sun that filtered through the blooming cherry blossoms, painting patterns on the sidewalk.
I promised them the day before I will stop by at the end of their dance practice.
It was a rare occasion when all of us had free time to meet like this, so naturally all advantage had to be taken. However one thought kept pushing itself through, and I couldn't get it out of my head. A part of me was furious at Yoongi.I knew i shouldn't have gifted him with an extra pack for himself.
I love Yoongi, but I am never giving him beer or any alcohol again.I mean I guess I knew at some point this was going to come up, even out of curiosity, but did it have to be now?
I cringed at the memory. We sat in my backyard, away from prying eyes of fans and band managers alike. The pre-Spring chill nipped at our hands and faces but it was still too nice to be inside. So the eight of us sat on the porch, watching the last bit of sunlight fading in a sea of pink and red.
"Come on you tell me you don't prefer one of us? Everyone has someone that they slightly prefer to be around more than others," Yoongi insisted, beer can swinging from his hand.
I felt seven pairs of eyes bearing down on me. Taehyung's eyes didn't seem to be blinking and Jimin's eyes were wider than I've ever seen them, as if he could read the answer on my face.
"Do you mean like a crush?" Hoseok asked, slightly confused by the sudden switch in conversation.
"Yeah, sure. Come one she spends so much time with us, you're telling me not even a little?"
Namjoon was tipsy himself, I could see the flush in his cheeks, but always the gentleman, he sighed and said, "If she has a crush she doesn't have to tell us."It's none of our business unless she chooses to make it our business."
Jin, sober but a pain in the butt nonetheless, piped in, "Come on, you can tell me it's me. It's obviously me."
I blinked in his direction, he winked in mine before sending his famous flying kiss. I made the gesture of catching it and violently throwing it back at him, which made him laugh. And then I felt his eyes on me. He was sitting beside me on the porch swing and I refused to turn my head.
Jungkook nudged me with his elbow, smile wide.
"It's not Jin hyung, it's probably Yoongi hyung. She brought him the imported beer, everyone else just got the regular stuff. And don't forget those late night phone calls!" I could hear the playfulness in his voice but his closeness distracted me. I was very aware of his presence.Caught off guard by the sudden interrogation, I downed my beer, more nervous than i have ever been.
"If I had, none of you would know, considering our age differences," I said after setting the beer down.A sound of protest rang around me.
"Age doesn't matter, love is love!" Yoongi exclaimed, his words slurring, his eyes crinkling around the edges the way they did. Jimin laughed at the sudden burst of emotion from his hyung before he pried the beer can away from him.
I pretended to laugh it all off, brushing the hair out my eyes.
"You need to sober up before that," I said.
He yelled with delight. "So there is someone!"
