The story all began with our first January boy.
The day he came to earth his mother wept with tears of joy.
She looked into his eyes that were so innocent and gray,
And knew deep in her heart her son would always find his way.

The January boy became so handsome, smart, and sweet,
He found an Alabama girl and swept her off her feet.
The years they came, the years they went, through good times and through bad,
Then came a day the boy was told "You're gonna be a Dad."

September due, October born, a baby worth the wait.
Her tiny fingers clasped his own and quickly sealed his fate.
He gently held his baby girl, gray eyes just like his shone.
He taught her lots of funny things, like "Daddy hung the moon."

Smart like her dad, with mamma's face - a beauty in and out.
She met a cute Nebraska boy, and never had a doubt.
She went to school and worked and wrote, then daughter married too.
And as she'd planned, a baby was now January due.

Just like his mom, a son came late upon a winter day.
She held him close, his eyes met hers, two pools of stormy gray.
Her father bent above the crib, small fingers grasped his own.
A grandpa too was made that day, and in his eyes tears shone.

The baby grew into a boy, strong as a burly bear.
He loved to visit grandpa's house, and mom would join him there.
Her father took the young boy's hand, his heart was filled with joy.
Then daughter knew she'd always love TWO January boys.
